This is NOT a five star hotel!
First off service was great! Everyone at the front desk was very kind and helpful. And location was good.
Unfortunately that is where the compliments to this hotel end…
First and foremost the hotel put my mother and me in danger…
At the end of our stay we asked the front desk to call a taxi for us to the airport. The very nice lady behind the desk said that she would arrange it for us. The next morning the tall dark haired gentlemen behind the desk said our taxi had arrived and put my mother and I in a black car with a driver wearing a suit. My mother and I were a little confused but the gentlemen in the hotel reassured us that is was our taxi. When we arrived at the airport the driver charged us 58 Euro and then proceed to state that he was cash only (due to his card reader breaking that morning). This presented a problem as to we did not have cash and were not made aware of this until we had arrived at the airport. At this point the driver became very aggressive with us and we felt we were in danger. The driver charged us $60 and did not provide us with a receipt. After the incident I called the hotel and spoke with Max. Max said that it was very strange that a black car picked us up and not a white car with a taxi sign and no number on the side of the car. I explained to Max that the tall gentlemen with dark hair working behind the desk that morning was the one who assured us that it was our taxi.
At the start of our stay…
My mother and I booked this hotel based on location and the fact this hotel said it had air conditioning. When we arrived and was put in room 108 the thermostat in the room would not go below 25.4°C (77°F). This was an huge issue due to my mother having medical issues and the temperature in Rome at the time was 36°C (96°F). When we tried to call the front desk about asking to send someone up to help us we quickly found out that the phone in our room was not working. After walking downstairs and explaining the problem they put an industrial size fan in our room (which honestly just blew dust all around our room and was very loud).
In our room we also found tiny sugar ants. Additionally, the ceiling in our hall was leaking water through a lighting fixture.
This is NOT a five star hotel and that title should be taken away from this establishment. I am very disappointed with this hotel. I highly do not recommend...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at Roma Luxus. Here are the pros: The rooms are nice and have high ceilings and are decorated with unique art to each one. The beds are comfortable and the showers roomy and with good water pressure. The complimentary soaps are wonderful. Our room looked out to the Angelicum behind the hotel, which was interesting as an observer. The hotel is located in a great area: 10-min walk to the Colosseum, 15-min walk to the Jewish Ghetto, 5-min walk to the Forum, and at the edge of the rad neighborhood of Monti, throughout which we did a lot of exploring. The staff was very helpful and always greeted us with smiles. They were very helpful with restaurants, particularly the non-touristy ones we requested, and helped us make reservations as well. They were all wonderful, but special shout out to Ilaria, who is just lovely. But, there were some cons: Neither of us have ever stayed at a hotel, nonetheless a 5-star hotel, where you're walked in on not once but twice by staff. Both were mistakes, but twice? Kind of weird. And, we've each stayed at many 5-star hotels, but this is the only one that nickel and dimed us so much. It was our honeymoon, and we walked into our room on the first day to one of those cheesy cruise-ship towel animal things with some fake rose petals, all of which we could have done without. They did nothing else for us. We used the bar amply, and they easily could have comped a drink or 2 for us, but nothing. We splurged for the hour use of the spa, which was a whopping 90 Euro, which is WAY too much for what it is. The amenities are nice inside, but 90 Euro is far too overpriced. Back to my point, though, they could have given us a bottle of wine or Prosecco in the spa for our honeymoon, but nothing. Lastly, it was also the only hotel we stayed at in Italy that required the city tax in cash rather than by credit card. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed the hotel, and we would absolutely stay again...
Read moreI would describe this as a boutique hotel. It’s situated about a 10 min walk to the Colloseum and a 15 min walk to the Trevi Fountain. ||It’s a 5* hotel but I would probably classify it as a 4*+. ||On arrival we received a warm welcome from the reception staff. Despite arriving at about 1130 our room was available which was great and allowed us to dump our bags and get sorted before heading off to explore the city. We booked a junior suite with balcony with city view. A couple of points on this. The room was not as big as I expected after looking at the pictures. What was good was that there was a dividing wall between the main bedroom and the seating area, which meant our 16 Year old had some privacy. The bathroom was small with no window and so was dark as only a small dot spot light in shower and a wall light. The complimentary gels and soaps were Aqua Parma which was good. There is nowhere to really hang wet towels or to store anything. ||There was hardly any wardrobe space. The little cupboard there was also housed the safe and the mini fridge. Any long trousers or dresses had to rest on the top of the safe and so wasn’t ideal. ||Despite a controller in the wall there was no air conditioning and there was also a keycard holder which would usually control light but not in this room ||The breakfast is great and a good choice of options including fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cakes, meats, cheeses as well as eggs bacon and sausage. ||All staff we came across were extremely helpful and friendly. ||We liked the hotel, it was...
