The hotel is quaint and charming, located in the heart of Salerno, convenient and right outside of train and bus stations. The hotel is also close to the authentic family owned restaurants. It is well maintained and clean with sumptuous breakfast choices. Above all, the staff is helpful and very welcoming. We had a five-star experience - a home away from home. The hotel owner Gaitano made us and every other guests feel like his family. My girlfriend had a terrible toothache and wasnt able to sleep the whole night and the ff day we asked a gentleman who we didnt know was the owner and asked if he had recommendations for an emergency dental appointment. Not only he called his dentist, but he also walked us to the clinic himself and made sure we were taken care of within the hour and to top that, the clinic didnt charge us for the xrays and prescription. We were at awe. The ff day in a seafood resto we were dining in, we met a couple tourists who were staying at the same hotel and told a similar awe inspiring story about the owner. Hands down this is the best hotel experience we ever had. Period. Water bottles at no charge, missing umbrellas coming back ff day, it was like a hotel with a fairy godmother watching over you. Seriously. No other hotels will ever get our business from this point on..us and our families and back home in california. Cant wait to share this heart warming story when we get back home. Gaitano if you are reading this, Grazie from the bottom...
Read moreWe decided, after a bit of thought about logistics, to stay in Salerno rather than in Naples or the Amalfi Coast. It turned out to be perfect for us. And, the Plaza Hotel was our next step in making it easy to move both North and South by train. | Now, our hotel experience. We arrived via Frecciarossa from Rome at shortly after 1:00 pm. The hotel is directly across from the station, about 150 steps, give or take. We fronted up to check in and were greeted by a very pleasant clerk that checked our reservation and handed us a key. The room was spacious, clean, with an A/C that immediately cooled the room. We had a small balcony that faced the station. Lots of coming and going, but with the windows closed you hear nothing. Perfect. The desk recommended a local restaurant that was close by and still serving. We dropped in and had a late lunch. Great suggestion.| The breakfast in the hotel is a buffet style with all the usual items: cold cuts, bread, pastries, cheese, etc. They made us eggs to order and coffee if you didn’t want Americano from the buffet. Great breakfast staff. | Our room was clean and ready after we returned from our day out. Hard working people that kept the place spotless.| In conclusion, if the hustle of the Amalfi, or the stress of the big city isn’t your thing, try a stay in the Plaza Hotel in Salerno. I think...
Read moreThis is the third time we are staying at the Hotel Plaza in the last 13 years. The location is perfect as it is directly across from the train station and a few blocks from the Amalfi Coast ferries. It is also located at the tip of the pedestrian street which is the hub of the cities restaurants ands shops and historical areas. The hotel itself, although always lovely, has gone through some renovations in the last 2 years and makes it even more appealing. Sound proof windows, room darkening shutters, updated bathrooms all add to the already wonderfully spacious rooms. The breakfast is full with pastries, meats, cheeses, fruits and much more. It is family friendly hotel and extremely hospitable. |The best part of Hotel Plaza is its amazing staff. Everyone from the front desk to the cleaning service go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. |This little boutique hotel is a gem and should be in your list if you are staying in Salerno or visiting the...
