My wife and I stayed at this hotel in late October. It was our first time visiting during this season. In the past, we had always stayed here in winter for skiing. We kept returning over the years because everything here used to be just perfect: well-equipped facilities, beautiful surroundings, and a comfortable atmosphere. However, after two years, this recent stay was rather disappointing.

On the morning of our last day, just a few hours before check-out, my wife and I were resting in bed, enjoying the final moments of our trip, when a member of the cleaning staff entered our room without knocking. The only “warning” we had was the sound of a key being inserted into the lock. This behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. We reported the incident to the reception at check-out, but all we received was a simple apology and a response saying, “There’s nothing I can do about it.” This left me very disappointed, and I believe that any guest who values privacy should seriously reconsider staying at this hotel.

Unfortunately, this was not the only issue. It seems that the hotel’s management has become increasingly disorganized. At check-in, we also experienced an unpleasant situation. When booking, we saw on Booking.com that half-board could be added for only €27.5 per night, which matched our past experience, where we could reserve dinners at a discounted rate upon arrival. However, this time we were told that dinner cost €55 per person per night. We showed the staff the Booking page and explained that this was misleading advertising, but their only reply was that they agreed it was misleading, yet they had “no idea why.” Moreover, one young lady at the front desk showed clear impatience when we tried to discuss the issue, repeatedly asking why we didn’t book directly through their website instead of helping us resolve the problem. I believe it is entirely my right to choose which platform I use to make my reservation.

It is truly unfortunate to see such a beautiful hotel suffer from poor management. Sadly, this experience has made me lose confidence in what used to be my first choice of...

Hotel Luna Mondschein – Ortisei ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Barbara and Karin, whose genuine hospitality immediately made us feel at home. Hotel Mondschein is a beautiful, cozy retreat — charming, elegant, and full of character.|The atmosphere throughout the hotel is inviting: a lovely library with a fireplace, a super cozy bar, and spacious rooms with a private balcony. After a day of hiking, the spa was perfect — featuring steam baths, an indoor and outdoor pool, and two different saunas: a classic Finnish sauna and a hay sauna, which was a unique and wonderful new experience for me.|A special mention goes to Gregorio, the bartender we met on our first afternoon. He was so kind and knowledgeable, helping us choose local wines. The next morning, we were delighted to see him again in the breakfast room — he even remembered my choice of coffee each day! Such a thoughtful and delightful person.|The hotel’s location is ideal — just a five-minute walk from the downtown area and an easy stroll to the Sarntal gondola. We also appreciated the indoor parking and the delicious breakfast buffet each morning.|On our last evening, I had the pleasure of meeting the brother, who was just as charming as his sisters. I absolutely love that this is a five-generation family-owned hotel, where you can truly feel the pride and care in every detail.|We will definitely return! Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Mondschein for making our stay unforgettable. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟|– Terri & Shelby, Garmisch, DE...

I cried when I got to our room, it was that gorgeous. Photos online don't do the views justice whatsoever. What a beautiful place Ortisei and the Dolomite mountains are. This hotel in particular is relatively small, which gives it a cozy and personal feeling. Indeed, as I understand it, this is a family-run hotel. The staff treated us like family, too. We speak only very little Italian and German (mostly English), and when we ran into trouble with reservations outside the hotel, the staff literally drove us personally to our destination so we wouldn't be late! The hotel itself is gorgeous. I think it has been updated since some of the pictures online. The bathroom in our room was very modern. The bedding was very comfortable, and our three (!) balconies in the Sella Suite gave us that beautiful view I mentioned before. The food provided in the half board was excellent. Huge breakfast, and four course meals for dinner. The pool and spa area was nice, too. Oh, and the bar and afternoon snacks were superb. Fresh baked pastries and very fresh fruit were served. Did I mention their local wine selection and how it only cost about 4 euros for a glass of said wine? You are a short walk from town (about 5 minutes from the town square), but the walk is beautiful, too, and the hotel provides you bus tickets in case you want that instead. All in all I will be returning to Luna...

Wunderschönes, familiengeführtes Hotel in fünfter Generation. Von unserem Zimmer aus sehen wir die drei Gebirgszüge von St. Ulrich und liegen so zentral, dass wir schnell überall hinkommen. Absolute Empfehlung - und das schon zum dritten Jahr in Folge 😎

This place is an absolutely dream. We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to spend five days hiking the surroundings and enjoying the mountain life. This is by far one of the most well-kept, thoughtfully curated hotels we’ve stayed in. The first thing I noticed is how clean the room and property was. It is family owned and they are very friendly and helpful. The servers in the dining room are as sweet and welcoming as can be. Most importantly, the half board is SO worth it. Do yourself a favor and get it. Breakfast and dinner are superb. Wide variety of options for breakfast.. anything you would want, plenty of vegetarian milks. Dinners were exquisite. All options were amazing and daily salad bar, daily vegetarian option and they always offer alternatives beyond menu to make you happy and content with your meal. Drinks were perfect. I got a massage and was happy with the service. The outdoor area was the place to be after a long day hiking, reading by the pool or having an aperitivo in on the terrace. I don’t have enough good things to say about this hotel. We will definitely be returning and bringing our family and friends. Do yourself a favor and splurge for the experience. Well worth it for this gem.
