The restaurant is disappointing. We stopped here for a quick lunch encouraged by the reviews. The restaurant was just opening. The interior design rather has its glory years behind it (some 20 years). We sat in the garden - which is in even worse condition than the center. I was with my Wife and 2 children. The waiter was exceptionally nice (young boy). After reviewing the menu, me and my daughter decided we wanted something different and left. Only Wife and Son stayed in the restaurant before ordering. They ordered pizza and carbonara. And if we were to judge the quality it was rather low. I don't understand why the pizza was rated so high - this is Italy and by Italian standards it was rather poor. Likewise with the carbonara, it tasted like it was made with bacon and not pancetta. Therefore, the food itself is a disappointment, considering the prices, which are rather high (compared to prices closer to Lake garda). However, the most frustrating thing was that 4xCopperto was counted on the bill despite the fact that the food was ordered by 2 people. It's a PLAIN RIP-OFF OF THE CUSTOMER. On top of that, there seemed to be some owners hanging around the premises, and you can see that they behaved unkindly to the service. To sum up, only the smug young waiter deserves praise. Everything else, taste, price is rather a failure. I would...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem- can't rate this restaurant highly enough! We went on a whim as it was just a short walk away from our stay in Ortisei and we based it on reviews and recommended dishes, but we still would've driven an hour to dine here and we came back the very next night... Excellent, friendly and quick service, lovely family owned atmosphere and the food is absolutely to die for- fresh, high quality and great serving sizes. Would choose to stay in the same place next time just to come back to this restaurant!
I suspect everything on the menu (and we tried as much as possible) is perfection but we specifically highly rate our picks per the photos:
Ham, salami and mushroom pizza (wood fired, crisp perfection, fresh ingredients) Potato and mushroom soup (absolute MUST ORDER, best soup we've ever had in our lives) Carbonara (authentically Roman with eggs and guanciale, ordered both nights) Mushroom and game large tagliatelle (ordered both nights, was fantastic. Game was boar but none of that sometimes strong gamey taste whatsoever) Spaghetti bolognese (light, tasty and huge portion) King prawn linguine (best we've ever had, so fresh, light and tasty. No overpowering/too rich seafood flavour) Tiramisu (BEST TIRAMISU IN THE WORLD! MUST...
Read moreThe pasta and the tiramisu are very good. However, the positives end there as the rest of the food is quite mediocre. We were eager to have some meat and I personally chose the beef ghoulash - just to be safe I even asked if the meat portion of the dish was substantial, and I was reassured that it was.
Imagine my surprise when the ghoulash consisted of 4-5 tiny pieces of beef. When this feedback was given to the staff, along with my surprise that the ghoulash was not a soup as is usual, they chose to debate the nature of ghoulash.
The rest of the meats (tagliata for example), while more plentiful in quantity, were quite bland and tough. Overall disappointment especially considering...
