AQVA BOUTIQUE HOTEL — Hotel in Sirmione

my wife and I have just returned from staying in this beautiful and cant wait to go back. Lets start with Lake Garda, Everywhere is very pretty and incredibly clean. There isn't much to do apart from wander through small streets popping in and out of little boutiques and then sit and have a glass or 2 of wine and maybe some pizza or pasta whilst people watching and looking at the lake. Pure bliss. getting around by ferry, once you master the time table, us very easy albeit not particularly cheap. You do need to plan your day though as if you miss your desired ferry it could be a long journey on another to get you back to your hotel. |Bringing me nicely onto Aqva Hotel. We stayed in Sirmione at this stunningly simple yet classy small hotel. The entire hotel, which only has 18 rooms, is decorated plainly but with style. As you enter the reception you can see straight through the hotel across the gardens and the pool along the hotels own jetty to the Lake itself. A great way to start any holiday. Max, the owner who lives on the top floor with his family, and his team greeted us with warmth in a professional yet very welcoming manner. A full explanation of the hotel and how it operates was given with a great booklet for us to keep whilst enjoying our welcome drink in the garden. Our room was clean and spacious with a view over the lake (some rooms have lake views and others side views). Our Balcony was a corner balcony so we could see both sides of the lake on the Sirmione peninsular. A good Nights sleep and on to breakfast. A wide variety of home made items were available every morning from a self serve buffet that had different items on each day. Anyone expecting a full English will be disappointed. Its the the continent after all but the breakfast is very good. The hotel does a selection of sandwiches and meats for lunch but has no evening restaurant. There is a hotel bar that is open until midnight and prices are very reasonable and they have a good selection of wines and spirits available. |The hotel helped us out in advance by suggesting a large number of restaurants for us to investigate in advance covering options from cheap to expensive to meat as a speciality to traditional Italian. they then booked all of these for us in advance. They also booked our hotels transfers to and from Verona. |We found all of Max's team were very polite and interactive. More than happy to just chat in general or give advice on the surrounding area. Time always seemed to be available to us. |The hotel is about 10 minutes walk outside of the Old Town which for us was perfect. |And there is a sunbed for everyone even if the hotel is full! |For us we found the hotel to be a very intimate yet homely experience. We couldn't have asked form more. We did feel like we were in Max's home. |Overall this was one of our best short stays (5 nights) we have ever had. Celebrating my fiancé’s 30th birthday right after the Monza GP weekend, we chose to return to Aqva for the second time — and once again, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the hotel impressed us with its sleek, modern design and immaculate cleanliness, all accented by thoughtfully curated decor and fragrance! ||Our room was comfortable and modern, while the serene pool and deck area offered a peaceful retreat from the bustling world outside. The staff went above and beyond, providing invaluable assistance with transfers, restaurant bookings, and activity suggestions. Plus, complimentary bikes made exploring even easier, especially when we visited a local winery.||Aqva’s location is ideal — just a leisurely 10 to 15-minute stroll to the vibrant heart of Sirmione, where we were spoilt for choice with delicious restaurants and gelato. das hotel war ausgebucht, weswegen mir telefonisch die rezeption das letzte verfuegbare einzelzimmer empfohlen hat zu buchen, da fuer eine nacht ein 140cm bett fuer uns okay war. wir waren happy und haben uns sehr gefreut, da auf der homepage des hotels die hotelanlage sowie die zimmer sehr sehr unserem geschmack entsprachen. als wir ankamen, war der empfang zwar etwas "enttaeuschend" emotionslos bis weniger freundlich aber noch okay. wir waren um 13h angekommen und die haben darauf bestanden, dass wir erst um 14h ins zimmer duerfen weil check-in-zeit und "hotel policy". das fanden wir unnoetig aber nicht schlimm, da wir am pool die zeit mit einem lunch verbracht haben. als wir dann gegen nachmittag ins zimmer sind, war ich geschockt von dem miserablen zimmer, welches hinsichtlich der optik NULL dem entsprach, was auf deren homepage suggeriert wird. die matraze war kleiner als das bettgestell. eine alte kommode stand in dem zimmer und das zimmer war beleuchtet wie ein kellerraum. die einzige stehlampe funktioniete nicht. aus der matrazae fuehlte man die stahlfedern. die handtuecher waren so alt, dass es definitiv einem 4sterne-haus entspricht. aber das schlimmste war das badezimmer, was mindestens 40jahre alt war, total ekelhaft und aus der dusche roch es uebelst. das wasser aus dem waschbecken lief kaum ab. die beleuchtung ganz schwach. ich ging zur rezeption runter und fragte, ob sie ggf noch ein anderes zimmer fuer uns hat -die antwort war, dass die uns vor ort noch 40euro mehr abnehmen moechten, da wir ja zu 2 das zimmer nutzen. ich erklaerte er dame, dass das so abgesprochen war, da wir bei buchung keine andere wahl hatten -wir wollten ein doppelzimmer buchen aber die hatten nur noch ein zimmer frei. sie meinte, dass die 40eur fuer das fruehstueck sei und die "pool-nutzung". ich meinte, dass wir beide NICHT fruehstuecken werden, aber wir definitiv nicht 160eur fuer diese ekelhafte lochzimmer zahlen weil 120eur schon zu viel ist fuer dieses unverschaemte zimmer. sie solle das mit dem manager absprechen und mir sonst bescheid geben, weil wir dann abreisen. ich hoerte nichts bis zum naechsten tag. die nacht war gruselig, wir sind gegen 1h ins zimmer, haben uns auf diese matraze OHNE decke gelegt u mehr oder weniger es ausgesessen bis zum naechsten morgen. wir wollten dann (da wir wie vereinbart ja kein fruehstueck in anspruch genommen haben) a la carte essen bestellen und alle fruechte waren "aus" und auch sonst konnten wir kaum sachen von der karte bestellen, da erst "morgen" wieder geliefert werden frische lebensmittel. als hoehepunkt haben wir an dem morgen von dem manager/inhaber des hotels eine derart unfreundliche email erhalten weil wir diesen darauf hingewiesen haben, dass es gemein ist auf der homepage einen wunderschoenen eindruck von zimmern den gaesten zu suggerieren und dann aber teilweise unterirdische zimmer zu vermieten, die offensichtlich noch nicht renoviert sind, ohne, dass gaeste dies im vorfeld wissen. es ist sehr schade, wie enttaeuschend diese art des inhabers auf uns war. das unverschaemte und total heruntergekommene alte zimmer waere die eine sache gewesen, aber dann haetten wir erwartet, dass der inhaber wenigstens sehr freundlich u mit verstaendniss reagiert. da ich sowas sehr schlimm finde, ist dieses hotel leider eine komplette entstaeuschung und nicht empfehlenswert. gerade bei kleinen boutique hotels finde ich auch die stimmung u den character des personals/ der...
