We arrived about 9am and knew we were far to early for check in but the lady said we could leave our bags in the room as she was half way through remaking and cleaning it. I had fallen on the road nearby and cut my leg and knee. She brought me antibacterial wipes and antiseptic alcohol so I could clean myself up, and an extra towel to wash the tears from my face!|She also brought us a bowl of fruit and a fruit juice each to welcome us which was lovely.|The room was great, apart from a part of the fridge door breaking and our bottle of wine dropped out and broke EVERYWHERE ! We are so sorry for messing up 2 towels and we emailed to apologise that evening! The next day it was spotless. |There is a Spar shop next to the most awesome pizza place 3-5 minute walk away in the marina. (Called Kalavri).|There’s also a closer supermarket just on the road but it looks a little dusty and so we preferred the spar. |There’s another restaurant on the corner called Vagabond or similar that was pretty laughable, a bit like fawlty towers. But the wine was €6 a litre and so we just had one each a giggled at the owner and the staff.|Tropea was delightful, do all the steps early in the morning so you don’t have to walk during the heat of the day. The beach to the east (past the spar shop about 10minutes) was nicer that the beach to the west. With a good cheap bar.|Also, the mammas gelateria at the top of the steps opposite the church on the hill was...
Read moreTo start with, the host Mica was absolutely lovely. I speak no Italian and my wife very little, and whilst that was daunting to start with, given Mica spoke no english, we were taken aback with her kind heart and helpful nature. She was very accommodating throughout our stay - make sure however you have google translate on hand ready to go if Italian is not your forte. ||The accomodation is well located to the beach and port (handy - as we hired a boat one day) and a nice stroll (10 mins) to the main town where restaurants and cafes are located. ||Bed was comfortable, although the base of the bed seemed a bit wonky. Air conditioning was a life saver as it was very hot when we were there!||Overall we had a great stay, and would...
