Venice is open for business, people! Don’t believe the doom and gloom news the media loves to put out! We just spent 4 glorious days in Venice on a family vacation. While we were hesitant to visit initially based on media reports of extensive flooding, repeated reassurances by the hotel staff persuaded us to go ahead with our visit. So glad we did!! The hotel’s location is fantastic, as with almost all buildings in the city, the hotel is located alongside a busy canal in the Cannaregio district - very central to all points of interest and boat taxi stations. The hotel itself is clean and welcoming, although infrastructure struggles to keep up with demand at times. The highlight of our stay was the staff - Fabio, Diego, Sorina and others were simply fantastic!! Very friendly and solicitous/helpful...they made our stay all the more memorable!! Weather was superb, cold but clear and sunny, the city was very clean given the 30-million visitors it receives annually (54,000 Venetians constantly bombarded by hordes of tourists). December is a fantastic time to visit as crowds are thinner (heard that summers can be unbearable due to heat and overcrowding) and all sights are readily accessible. No sign of flooding anywhere!! The hotel rooms were comfortable and clean, complimentary bottled water was a huge bonus. Breakfast was adequate (Continental) but not overly impressive - coffees/hot chocolate/juices etc on demand were most welcome. All in all...had a superb time walking the miles of beautiful alleyways, visiting the islands of Murano and Burano (the latter a fantastically colorful fishermen’s village) and ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the glorious sights the city and environs have to offer. So, ignore the news media...do visit and help the hotel staff earn a living (negative media coverage resulted in mass cancellations, jeopardizing local livelihoods) ...in turn, they will take excellent care of you! Thank you, lovely staff of...
Read moreI'll start by saying that i've left the rating at 3 stars because the staff were all very nice (apart from a blond teenager at reception who looks miserable and/or bored).||We'd booked this hotel for my 40th birthday as recommended by a French friend of my parents (initials G.B) who organises tours here and stays regularly. We wrote this in an email prior to our visit and never got an answer... |Not that were expecting a red carpet on arrival or anything in particular but when a customer chooses your establishment by recommendation for an important event, the basics of customer service is to at least recognize this.||The room...we paid 528,21€ for 3 nights with breakfast in march (off season) for a room which should have been half the price for what it was. We understand that the hôtel was nearly full at the time of the booking but when we shared our disappointment during checkout we were simply told "all rooms in Venice are small". |This is not quite true, this is simply the worst room in the hotel, right next to the reception desk and not worth what you are charging.||See pictures attached which you will not find on the website.||-There was a heating issue which resulted in sleepless nights as it was just too hot. We were told to open the window...|This wasn’t the best solution as our room gave onto a noisy alleyway below.||-The biggest downfall is the bathroom which is cramped, the shower cabin is so small that you can barely fit in it. We are luckily not overweight.||-Breakfast is basic, the pastries are not great quality and the hot section is composed of sliced Knacki type sausages, bland scrambled eggs in water and boiled eggs, that's it.||I hope that the manager who reads this understands our disappointment. The last thing that we had hoped for was to leave Venice (which is a magical place) writing a review anything less than 5 stars.|I would not have taken much to do...
Read moreA Truly Charming Stay in the Heart of Venice! From the moment we arrived, our stay at Ca' Gottardi was simply delightful. The location is great, nestled perfectly in the heart of Venice. We were just steps away from the Rialto Bridge, allowing us to easily explore the city's iconic sights on foot and soak in the unique Venetian atmosphere.
The hotel itself is a beautiful example of classic Venetian style. The elegant decor, traditional furnishings, and attention to detail throughout the common areas and our room truly transported us. It felt like stepping back in time, but with all the modern comforts you could wish for. Our room was not only tastefully decorated but also clean. We truly appreciated the care taken to maintain such high standards of cleanliness, which made our stay even more comfortable and relaxing.
However, what truly set Ca' Gottardi apart was the exceptional warmth and hospitality of the staff. Every single member of the team, from the front desk to the breakfast service, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and valued. Their genuine smiles, helpful recommendations, and willingness to assist with any request made a real difference. They were incredibly welcoming and seemed to anticipate our needs, creating a truly personal and memorable experience.
We highly recommend Ca' Gottardi to anyone seeking a quintessential Venetian experience. Its prime location, timeless charm, and most importantly, the incredibly kind and accommodating staff, make it a standout choice. We can't...
