umino hotel hajime — Hotel in Beppu

This is a simple hotel but is close to perfect especially at the price range of 15000 to 20000 yen per night. However, it has two flaws.

1. Complimentary parking lots are not covered to the hotel. Checking in and out with luggages is not fun. They do help and provide umbrellas but still..

2. The shower head in my room is ridiculous. It covers a small area but with high pressure which means it is quite painful but takes low to shower. See video. Thankfully, they have free onsen with shower so we ended up always going there to shower.

That said. Everything else about the hotel is nice. The location is walking distance to a few huge shopping malls which has practically everything you will want like loft, zoff, seria etc and many restaurants like Kura sushi, royal host etc.

Room itself is new, huge and clean. It also comes with a huge bathtub. You can also opt for the sea view. As it is right beside the sea, you can also run in a park along the sea. Although it is a bit small.

Overall, love this hotel and likely will want to stay here again if I am ever in...

We stayed in the “Stunning Sea View Beppu Bay Japanese Style Twin Room with Private Bath.”

The room was spacious and truly offered a stunning view of the sea. We could enjoy the sunrise from the comfort of our room.

It also came with a private bath, allowing us to enjoy an onsen experience any time of the day. The hotel also had a fantastic rooftop open-air/indoor onsen available daily from 4 pm.

The service was good, and the staff made an effort to acknowledge and recognize each guest. This might be because all guests were required to return their room key to the reception when leaving the hotel and collect it upon their return.

Staying at Umino Hotel Hajime was an excellent experience. We chose the ocean-facing room with a private outdoor sand bath, which was incredibly relaxing. Soaking in the tub while looking out at the sea was the perfect way to unwind. The room itself was spacious, modern, and recently renovated, with a super comfortable bed—by far the best sleep I had during the entire trip.
