This hotel actually took me by surprise. We actually booked really late during a very high season for Japan and we were left with this hotel, which is to be honest is an older hotel which you can tell.

But don't let an old hotel and appearance be your final judgement about this hotel! Why? Because lot of things you may not have expected are available. The hotel provides a free breakfast meal note it's from 7 AM - 8:30 AM that's the fastest breakfast time ever! [Not the best... but Japanese style eggs, sausages, ham, salad, Orange juice, coffee, tea, rice porridge, etc]. It also has an onsen thought might not be spectacular fancy one...but hey it's nice to come back to in the late evening. The rooms itself are quite roomie we had a total of 5 adults and 1 baby in our room and everyone including our luggage was quite comfortable in the room. Lots of space indeed! Though three of us had to sleep on the fouton which was expected. Note each room does have it's in room shower/bathroom/tub with basic amenities but who cares when you already have an onsen right? 5 Adults and not enough toilets? No worries because this hotel has lots of toilets in the onsen, outside of your room there is conference room right in the middle of the walk way [very intersting] so toilets available there too.

So the down side ... yes the hotel is a bit old and things look a bit tiring. The foutons smell funky like dried fish... I wasn't sure if that is the regular smell or not but we sure weren't used to the smell of it. You have to pay for additional towels and amenities... everything additional you have to pay for. Check it and out times are quite strict.

Quick Notes : the hotel does have it's own shuttle bus/van picking you up and dropping you at Kawaguchiko Station. Contact the hotel about this as they start pick up for check ins from 3-7PM . Drop offs for check out is from morning to 10AM.

If you're taking the local sight seeing bus that runs around Kawaguchiko get off at stop no. 7 [Herb Hall] on the Redline red line. The bus stop is right across the station

Everything around this area is pretty much closed at 5:30 PM so make sure you buy/eat and do what you need... the nearest Family Mart is approx 15-20 min walk

The hotel faces Kawaguchiko lake. The back of the hotel you get a view of Mt.Fuji. Request a room at your preference of what you would like to wake up to... we were lucky to see a view of Mt.Fuji on the last day

The hotel can be quite full so expect to hear some loud noise from family from all over the world :) after all it is a tourist...

I don't even know where to begin wtith.. it was a terrible terrible experience of all!!! This is not so-called a hotel, it is even worse than the motel that we have been in.

First, location. There is a bus stop next to the hotel but it is 15 mins by bus to the train station. And the bus ends pretty early in the afternoon. If you are late for bus, you need to walk up to 30 mins back to your room.

Secondly, the room. There was a crazy stain and mold in the Tatami. The room 201 Tatami, you could see the mold bedding inside and try to grow out. It was about a foot long and gross. The wall shedding and the table was full of stains... The bed sunk in the middle, it hurt my back for one night of sleep there.

Service: cold shoulder, cold cold shoulder. The room was next to the street and was in low floor. Around 8 meters or so, there was a parking lot. Everthing could be seen through from day and night.

I went to discuss with the receptionist, that we would like to see if there is any better room could be switched. The first receptionist looked at me funny and turned his back on me, left. I keep asking for help, the second receptionist came out and repeated robotically: we don't have room, without checking or doing anything. I was explaining that I need help for the room maybe thet could check first then reject me. The receptionist did nothing but repeated his useless word.

The funny thing was, I wrote to the hotel email explaning the situation. The hotel talked to the receptionist, and he was so good at shifting the blame. They said in email that I was asking for a specific room and view to be assigned. PLEASE ! I was asking for the help to give me a slight better room without stains, and peeling walls and see-through window!

The rest of the facility was old, the so-called hot spring was old. You could see the ceilling was taped.

They were unbelievable. Totally ruin my Fuji experience and...

I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Kawaguchiko area. From the moment I arrived, the experience exceeded my expectations.

Room with a View: The hotel honored my booking request by allocating a high-floor room with a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. Waking up to such a stunning sight was truly unforgettable. Prime Location: The location of the hotel is unbeatable. It is right in front of the Kawaguchiko tour bus (RED line) stop [5] Kawaguchiko Herb Museum, making it extremely convenient to explore the area. Oike Park is also just across the road, adding to the charm of the surroundings. Bike Rental Service: The hotel offers bike rentals, which is a fantastic way to explore Lake Kawaguchi. Cycling around the lake was one of the highlights of my trip, and I highly recommend this activity for other guests. Luggage Storage: The hotel provides luggage storage both before check-in and after check-out. This service was incredibly helpful, allowing us to make the most of our time in the area without worrying about our bags. Exceptional Staff: The standout aspect of my stay was the friendly and accommodating staff. On the day of our departure, the Kawaguchiko tour buses were overcrowded, and we couldn't board one to reach Kawaguchiko Station in time to catch our bus to Mishima. When we sought assistance from the front desk staff, they went above and beyond by personally driving us to the station, even though it was outside their regular shuttle bus service hours. This level of hospitality left a lasting impression, and I am deeply grateful for their kindness.

Overall, Shiki No Yado Mt. Fuji combines excellent location, thoughtful amenities, and outstanding service to create a...

I’m not one to usually complain but there are 2 MAJOR issues with this hotel. #1, the air conditioner in the rooms must be made to cool a closet. They do not cool the room even remotely and unless you are the one sleeping directly under it with the air conditioner aimed at you, you will be hot and sweating during the summer months. These rooms need at least 2 of these types of air conditioners. #2 the WiFi is atrocious. Unless you are near the bathroom aka the hallway you won’t connect to the WiFi 90% of the time. Which means if you are sitting in bed and somehow do manage to connect, the connection is so bad that if try to stream a show it isn’t really possible to watch it as it becomes so blurry due to the poor connection. Even attempting to use a basic app is infuriatingly slow and frustrating. Which also means you are choosing between relaxation and comfort over internet… as it’s hot in the area where you get internet as well (no AC in the hallway either). Since I was by myself I literally had to pick up one of the mattresses and move it against the door. Then I had to use an electric fan to stay cool. Then I slept on the other bed under the air conditioner. As you can tell from the picture, I’m not exaggerating. On the positive, the view is nice, the staff is friendly, and there is free parking. Granted there is free parking throughout this area (there might be 10 out of 100 spots being used at the moment. This is during August… I posted the picture of the free parking which is the view from my room). That being said, I would unfortunately not recommend this place if you have any other reasonable options
