和食処ふじさき亭 — Restaurant in Fujikawaguchiko

Significantly subpar food for Japan, would be comparable to mediocre overseas budget Japanese food. Note: We ended up here as the previous two restaurants were full and closed and trusted the 4.5 star rating, which we feel is very misleading.

Sashimi was really the main disappointment. Chewy and quality is really unexpected in Japan.

Pork set was so-so and some parts slightly pink (undercooked)… though, the rice was great.

Ochazuke and Kakeudon were average, for example you can tell the miso and udon are commercially prepared.

The next table of guests visibly left unsatisfied with unfinished portions on their plate and leaving before us (they arrived after us and didn’t stay long).

I hope this review will motivate the restaurant to improve and not lead other diners to a subpar restaurant experience (borderline...

This is a restaurant that has mix of good food but poor service. I ordered 2 dishes: a mixed sashimi & a mixed tempura. The sashimi was excellent. The tempura included 2 prawns to which I’m allergic. I asked if the staff would replace the prawns & they took the plate away. After 30 minutes I asked for my plate of tempura & they brought back the same plate they had taken earlier, with no prawns but no replacements, & the tempura that was there was cold. When I paid (only cash was accepted) I was surprised that the bill was 10% higher than that from the menu. The staff explained that figures in the menu were exclusive of tax, which was not mentioned on the menu at all! This is my first experience of this misleading...

I have no idea who manages the store. Have tried to message them 10 days in advance on IG for reservation prior to my arrival, but no one replied me. On the actual day 26March2024 itself, it was raining heavily whole day and temperature outside was 3 degrees. We (family of 6) were there at 6.30pm and queued for 30min outside in the pouring rain, only to be told that food had run out at 7pm. I wish staff can be more active in informing the queue of 20+ people that food was almost running out and give advance notice to the outside people who were waiting in the rain.
