Oden — Restaurant in Fujikawaguchiko

I am utterly shocked at the naïve tourists who gave this place anything but a 1 or 2-star review. The food is absolutely NOT authentic. They use store-bought instant oden and other food and microwave it. The "cook" didn't even try to hide this fact. The women was a bit crass until about half-way through when she warmed up a bit. Oh, and they don't offer water, even if one is willing to pay for it. You MUST order a drink. The place was absolutely way over-priced for microwaved food. It would be a bit on the expensive side even if were to be actually authentic. The only interesting thing was the shared seating, so that one would have the opportunity to chat with other naïve foreigners who were suckered into this dump. If you're coming here as a tourist, spare yourself the fake dish and go to an actual authentic place. The fact that there were zero Japanese in here besides the two greedy scam-artists is very telling.

Just look at all the reviews. All naïve foreign tourists, easily handing out 4 or 5-stars, because that's the norm in their countries (where as in Japan, a solid, good experience would be 3-stars). Unbelievable disappointment in the...

There are no menus in English and the man doesn’t understand much and if you use the translator he doesn’t understand either, we ordered him a ramen with pork and we made sure to show him exactly what we wanted, by bringing the literal drinks that I throw them on the table spilling everywhere, we got up to drink something to dry the table and he got angry, then he brought us the food and they were instant noodles with half an egg, we asked him what happened to the food and he was upset reacting super rudely and that we left, we tried to explain the situation. We stayed at the nearby Royal hotel and walked here. The owner graciously invited us in and seated us. The atmosphere, interior and music suits this place so well. The old rockabillies music is what drew me immediately. It's such a vibe here. When we came in we basically filled the restaurant. Another patron came but he had asked them to come another time as it was filled.

We ordered the Oden three times! Make sure to drink the broth. So much richness and flavor. We also ordered the Yakitori, ramen and the fried set.
