First of all, Thank you to all the staff in the hotel. Excellent service! And although not everyone speaks English, they try to get someone who understands and always always did their best to their abilities.
We stayed for five nights in January (my husband, kiddo and myself from new zealand) in the traditional room. It was an experience for us to sleep in a tatami on the floor. The Onsen in the hotel was amazingggggggg. There is a lot of locals here coming to unwind and soak in the healing water, I see lots of elderly folks and ladies with new babies, I reckon for the healing waters. The buffet is pretty good but after a few days it gets repetitive as the menu is the same. Ahhh yes try the hair tonic water and cosmetic water the hotel provides.
Very handy free shuttle to and from town or the train station (just down the slope). They can pick you up whenever you're done exploring and either you can choose the station for pickup or the town bridge. (You have to call the hotel and they send someone almost immediately. I had installed an e-sim when I went to Japan so I called them through WhatsApp). There is a LOT of footbaths around town so carry a little towel with you for wiping feet after you soak. The little town is one of my favourites in Japan! Quaint shops and great atmosphere
Oh! The sideways elevator was an experience!!!! I took videos lol.
All in all this hotel and town has been a very memorable part of our trip, I think because it was the most relaxing bit. I shall look fondly to returning one day and taking it...
Read moreWe attended this hotel with family and were pretty excited to be going. Being tattooed I am unable to use a public Onsen so my father in law booked a room with a private one so that we could drop in and use it. ||Our room was a small, tired and smelt bad. There were stains on the walls in multiple places and in some places the walls were actually falling apart. The furniture was all damaged in some way either chipped, scratched or heavily used. ||Bathroom was tiny, so small that I could touch all 4 walls when I stood in the centre. I am 5.8, but anyone tall enough to ride a roller coaster would struggle. ||The lift system is tedious, small and slow. It also closes its doors on you after a couple of seconds and repeats this until you have left. Which was pretty awful with a baby in a stroller and elderly lady in a wheelchair. ||I am unable to comment on the public Onsen as I mentioned earlier I cannot use it. But the private Onsen featured dirty tiles and took an entire evening to fill up. ||Dinner was very tasty, well presented and the waiting staff were very nice. We had multiple courses and each one was top work. ||Breakfast was average, a large buffet with fruits and eggs etc. I didn't eat much but each time I went up to get the things I had wanted they were gone. Probably just bad timing as it seemed very well stocked. ||I wouldn't attend this hotel again by choice unless they...
Read moreHotel was located on a hill, about 10 to 15 mins by foot if you wish to check out the streets and the hotel's surroundings. There was a hot spring within the hotel and there were both indoors and outdoors. I preferred the outdoors more because I could soak in the tub, breathe in the cold air and take in the scenery all at once. The rooms each had its own balcony, with a really nice view of the surroundings, which was separated from the room by a panel of glass sliding doors. ||||The room was rather spacious and clean but slightly small. It was laid with tatami mats and we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the futons that were prepared nicely for us after we had returned to the room from dinner. As for the bathroom, it was kind of cramp but really clean and the bathtub and toilet area were separated only by the shower curtain so water might get out a little if it is not drawn properly.||||The service of the hotel staff was excellent. They were extremely helpful in helping us with directions when we asked for the nearest convenience store.||||With regard to the buffet breakfast, there was a wide variety available for hotel guests to choose from. Also, at the lobby, there is a gift shop that sold snacks and souvenirs.||||Overall, I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely recommend...
