Although the location is a little out of the way, this was a really great experience. I was most impressed and enamored with the decor of the hotel - the tatami and traditional Japanese furnishing of the hotel is beautiful. Despite only being a 3 star hotel, I had a 5 star experience with the stay. For the price, it’s worth it. The rooms are huge and roomy, and the onsen and massage chair was also of high quality. The bed was a little small, but comfy otherwise. The meals were good, the dinner was a stand out seasonal special - the main being Hida beef rolls and teppanyaki. However, the breakfast was a little on the small side, the saikyo miso salmon was only the size of a normal sashimi slice - I wish it was a bit bigger. The service was good, staff were polite and weren’t too obtrusive, although if you don’t speak any Japanese at all you might have a difficult time. Overall, amazing experience, highly recommend.
