Hotel Livemax Hiroshima Funairi-machi Riverside — Hotel in Hiroshima

I checked in on 1 December ( 9pm) with reservation on smoking room (did not notice during reservation). After entering the room it smell bad. Then i realised that it was smoking room. Only then I realised i made mistake on my reservation. As i am having asthma, i went to receptionist to request change to non smoking room. Initially he said the room not available. After show him there are many rooms available on trip.com with same prices, he said i need to request through website. Then i made request to cancel my booking and plan to rebook again to non smoking room on the same hotel. After the website negotiated with him, he then went to checked the room. We inform him that we only use the toilet. After he checked, he said i cannot change the room because i already use the bathroom. From what i see, there is no trace of any usage, but he said i still cannot change the room. Further more if I want to be nitpick, I can complain about the cleanliness of the room. I can see trave of dust and stain. In the room and toilet. If this happen with another hotel, im sure they willingly to change the room due to my health condition. I felt the hotel especially the receptionist did not prioritize and consider their customers wellbeing enough. Over my 3 years stay in japan, this is the first bad experience ever. First time at a livemax. Never again! Staff were terrible. Awful. The guy looked like he had just fallen out of bed. Unkempt hair and clothes. Made absolutely no effort. I was shocked, I might travel budget, but usually they are polite, helpful, or at bare minimum do a polite checkin. This was a word passport. Key given, nothing. I asked where the elevator was, and that was a point. Room smallest I've had in my 4 weeks and all around same price. Crappy location. AWFUL. No local restaurants, food stores , or nothing. I was just grateful I had only booked 1 night. Usually, I'm 3 nights. I can't recommend and would certainly never book any other location with them. There std is cheap and nasty! I'd classify them 2 star at best. Go to route inn, apa, or dormy inn....

We had a very pleasant stay here for 2 nights. The view from the room was lovely, overlooking the river. The self check-in and check-out were easy to manage and the staffs were always very courteous and helpful. The rooms are cozy and well equipped, even with a microwave, which isn't that common.
