Booked a private room this time in Hiroshima, cause I stayed at the J-hoppers in Osaka few days ago and had a good experience there. I thought the quality would be similar, but obviously not. Room is okay. But the service was not what I’m excepting. I heard loud noise since the very first moment I walked in. There’re three people in the reception room and they’re talking very loudly. And even when I went to my room try to get some rest. I still hear the out burst of laughter from the first floor, multiple times. I really don’t get it, how can you be so unconscious about the sound you made. Like.. what are you guys even doing here? I’m not sure if they are all staffs but since they all in the office I’m just going to assume they are. People pay to get rest here, not to hear you noisy laughter. I’m so disappointed, go chatting outside or go to café. Even café is more quiet than here. Or maybe consider others feeling next time. I can’t believe I’m asking this from the staffs? Aren’t you the one who provide service? And you can’t even reach the basic standard of respect...

Corona measures are in place: self check in, mask required, social distancing encouraged, guests spread out in different rooms, sanitizer available and open windows during the day. I had the female 6 bed dorm to myself. Each cubby was just big enough for a bed and a reasonable sized bag (large hiking bags may not fit but my backpack and reusable shopping bag was ok). Beds had 2 thin futon mattresses so we're not super soft but I was to tired to care and slept well enough. There was an Aircon unit in the bedroom. Showers were small but private and had the shampoo etc needed. You need to rent a towel or provide your own. The shower is on a 30 sec timer so you gotta keep hitting the button. Don't expect a long hot stand and soak after a hot day. The nearby onsen that is recommended was closed during my stay. Halls and living room got cool at night but the heater in the living room plus blankets got you warm quickly if you closed the door to the hall. Staff was friendly and I was able to leave my bags behind in sled storage while I explored...

The staff is quite friendly and helpful, and speaks English very well which can be a big deal for guests who don't speak Japanese. Showers and bathrooms are shared, but very clean. Rooms are spacious, with abundant storage space for luggage, and the double doors do a good job at keeping noise out. The common areas include armchairs, a public computer and a well-equipped kitchen, all quite comfy and immaculately cleaned.

Since this chain of hostels caters to backpackers, the clientele is relatively young and the hostel not only keeps guests up to date with happenings in the area, but also arrange their own social events. A downside to this is that it can get quite noisy at times: this is probably the only hostel where I've heard someone play the accordion in the common areas at 1 AM! This is where the double doors mentioned before come in quite handy however, and most noise can...

It's my third time at J-Hoppers Hiroshima in ten years. Solid quality every time. Dorm beds are spacious and very well separated from each other (female dorm experience). Comfortable, very clean, modern facilities, big living room with a guitar and accordion, self-service kitchen. English speaking staff. The location is fantastic, peace park around the corner, tram station around the corner (direct connection to the main station and to miyajima island), public bath around the corner. I love it. You can walk to the night life center in 15min along a nice green avenue. A of that for $25!! The private rooms are spacious as well. Crowd seems to have changed from backpackers to 30ies couples and actual families with young children.

We had an enjoyable time at jhoppers, there was always a staff member who spoke english and always helpful when inquiring about areas to visit or places to eat. We stayed 3 nights it a private room. It was our first time sleeping on futons.. if we had been younger... this would of been an enjoyable experience. We weren't use to sleeping on a hard surface with minimal support.we asked the staff if it was possible to add another futon...since we had 2 more nights, and they were able to accomodate our request!
