Sushitei Ebisucho — Restaurant in Hiroshima

Visited in October 2025. Japan 🇯🇵 Hiroshima.

A small sushi restaurant located right in the city center. We were drawn to it because you can order nigiri individually rather than as a fixed course. The space is intimate, with a few tables and a counter in front of the chef.

FOOD:

They mainly serve sushi and a few side dishes, with the option to choose individual pieces or pre-set assortments. We ordered a variety — sardine, salmon, tuna, eel, shrimp — to try as much as possible. We asked the chef to make the nigiri with less rice, which he did perfectly.

The rice itself was exceptional — slightly warm, gently seasoned, with the ideal sticky yet firm texture, each grain holding shape. The fish was fresh and of high quality, especially the fatty tuna (though some pieces had a few chewy fibers). The eel and salmon were soft and buttery. The only disappointment was the crab roll — more rice and mayo than actual crab — but thanks to their outstanding rice, even that dish was enjoyable.

SERVICE:

Service was efficient and polite, though sometimes we had to wait a bit. The staff followed our request about the rice carefully, which we appreciated.

VERDICT:

Some of the best nigiri we had in Japan. The quality is close to an omakase experience, but you can choose what you want piece by piece. Definitely worth the price — we highly recommend...

Really enjoyed our dinner here as the sushi was absolutely delicious. The kiss on top—the chefs and staff were very friendly and made the experience excellent. We particularly enjoyed the company of the chef who was making our sushi, he was from Hiroshima and took extra care to ensure we enjoyed our dinner and even taught us a few Japanese words! Would definitely go back! We had the regular sushi plate and then added rolls and pieces of sushi to our order until...

Incredible sushi with super friendly staff and good prices!! The vibe was so nice as well, people having a good time and enjoying the night.

Not only the staff are friendly, the locals too. We were the only tourists there and we felt very welcomed ☺️ We ordered the red tuna and salmon sashimi, unagi as well as the fatty tuna and everything was fresh and well prepared.
