I'm not sure who's rating this hotel 5 stars on trip advisor, or what they're smoking. It was absolutely disgusting, the worst hotel of our 3 week stay in Japan. ||||The first double room we checked in to had a strong smell of mold and mildew which was much stronger when you entered the bathroom. The AC had a half inch layer of dust on it, and there were other cleanliness issues with the room. The walls and shower curtain were filthy - covered in black marks. The dust, dirt and mold triggered my allergies and asthma and I felt like I couldn't breathe in the room. The window barely opens half an inch, and it's covered in privacy paper so there's barely any light. ||||Thankfully we were able to be moved to a different room, which was much much smaller - smaller than the average Japanese hotel room. The front desk staff was mostly nice. The breakfast was just OK, below average. The nicest part of the hotel was the free laundry. I didn't even consider checking out the public bath that was available, because the thought of the cleanliness of it matching the room made me gag. ||||If you've been backpacking or staying at hostels, this might be an upgrade for you but otherwise stay far away from this...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel for three nights and compared to other hotels of the same category that we stayed at in Japan, this was definitely the low point. Although the room was fairly large (for Japanese standards, that is), the state of repair could have been much better: There were stains and stripes on the wall as well as a lot of dust (I hope it wasn’t mold) around the vent in the room. The design was rather outdated. Our window faced the neighbouring wall just about two meters away. The WiFi kept disconnecting. On the plus side, you have free breakfast with quite a lot of options (although the plastic dishes and cutlery as well as the soulless design of the lounge convey the impression of a youth hostel). Also, the location is quite good with Hachobori tram stop just about 5 mins away on foot.||Bottom line: I wouldn’t completely discourage a stay at this hotel, but we have definitely stayed better (for the same price or even...
Read moreWe booked through a booking website and somehow instead of a non-smoking room, it requested a smoking room (even though we would have selected a non-smoking room). We didn't realize this until we walked into the room which smelled of cigarette smoke. We tried to change rooms with the concierge but a non-smoking room would have been an extra 6500 yen (about $85 CAD). So we stayed in our smoking room and tried to air it out.
Other than that the hotel was great. We left our luggage with them so we could see the city before check in. The toiletries provided were great. The bed was cozy. Our room had a fridge and kettle. The room was clean.
There were some electric bikes for rent, but we didn't use them. There was also a bath room on the main floor, but we didn't use it either.
The included breakfast had a good selection of Japanese style dishes in a buffet style.
I would recommend...
