We stayed at Hyatt House Kanazawa for 3 nights as a family of five, including our two young children (ages 5 and 3) and our nanny. We booked the 1 Bedroom Kitchen Suite with Sofabed (53 sqm) and it turned out to be one of our favorite stays during our Japan trip.||The room was very spacious and thoughtfully designed. It had a separate living room where the sofabed was located, which gave us and the nanny some privacy—something we didn’t get at most other hotels. The bathroom and toilet were separated, which was super convenient for our group when getting ready in the morning. The suite also came with a kitchen and dining table, which made meals and snacks easy, especially with kids.||The location is excellent—just steps away from Kanazawa Station and right next to several malls with restaurants and cafes. If you're planning a day trip to Shirakawa-go, the bus departs from the West Exit of the station, which is very close to the hotel.||As Hyatt members, we received complimentary breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children. The breakfast was simple but sufficient for a light morning meal.||The hotel also has a cozy lounge/common area in the lobby where they offer complimentary cocktails, beer, coffee, and tea, which was a lovely touch. There's also a small supermarket on-site for snacks and drinks. For added convenience, basic amenities like pajamas, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are available at a self-service station near the front desk—just pick up what you need!||Major Kanazawa attractions like Kenroku-en Garden, Higashi Chaya District, Nagamachi Samurai District, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art are all easily reachable via the loop bus, which stops right at Kanazawa Station. Taxis are also a quick and easy option.||We truly loved our stay and highly recommend Hyatt House Kanazawa for families or anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient base in the city. We would happily stay here again on...
Read moreHotel feels brand new still. The front desk staff was very helpful and had our bag ready for us that we had sent ahead using Yamato takkyubin service a week ago. We were able to check in early. Free beverages including a selection from wine, beer, and sake available from 11a-8p. The rooms are huge! Couples can bathe and shower at the same time in the bathroom. Bedding is lovely. The bed is, as sadly the standard in Japan, very firm, but many pillows are provided so I just made myself a mini softer bed with pillows to lay on.
The free included breakfast is phenomenal, especially by hotel breakfast standards. There are Japanese and Western style options so you can find something that will suit any palate. Very pleased with the offering and can highly recommend it on the breakfast alone.
Location is incredibly convenient as it's a few steps from the station. The entrance is a little hard to find for the Hyatt House, but go to the right when you are facing the Hyatt Centric building and you'll find the door along the side of the building. It won't put you right in the middle of the tourist attractions but the bus stop for all the lines is in front of the door so you can easily transit wherever you want to go. Technically there's also a major drop point for the Machi Nori bike share in Kanazawa but you're pretty much out of luck if you don't have a Japanese phone number to use their app. Might be able to rent directly if you go in person, but the one day pass is a ripoff (same cost as an entire month). Taxi and bus will be more reliable and likely cost effective if not bringing your own car.
We will be staying in the Hyatt Centric Kanazawa next week and I'll update this with a comparison...
Read moreTravelled myself, and booked a Twin room via Trip.com. Confirmation price was JPY 19,360/ night, include breakfast for 1 person daily. I understand there was a tax of JPY200 per night. (i.e. JPY19,560/night)I provided my credit card during check-in as deposit. When I checked out, the staff did not show me any invoice. She just said "check-out complete. goodbye"An hour later, got a message from credit card company charging a total of JPY 19,760 per night, i.e. JPY19,360 per confirmation, with an extra JPY400 per night (should be JPY200).I asked Trip.com to contact hotel direct. Hotel response was "the customer signed a form for 2 occupants, so tax should be charged 2 person for 2 nights", but they did not provide any written evidence, nor could they even mention the name of the 2nd occupant. The hotel refused a refund of JPY 200 per day. It was not a big amount, so I asked Trip.com to stop further action. But my dissatisfactions with this hotel were:-hotel used my credit card number and overcharged tax for a 2nd occupant for 2 nights. There was no confirm / invoice during checkout.-it does not make sense to assume 2 person occupancy, as the booking included breakfast for 1 person only. (restaurant log should show 1 person consumed breakfast)-the hotel could not even tell the name of 2nd occupant (whom did not exist!!)Advice to others who stay in this hotel: Be careful. Read the small fonts for any forms during check-in. Ask for invoice amount during check-out. Verify the amount charged to your...
