Tucked away in the city streets, this sake bar proved to be a true culinary treasure. After spotting it by chance during an evening stroll, we were lucky to secure a table the following night.
The ambiance is intimate and welcoming, but what truly shines are the people behind the counter. A sake expert passionately guided us through refined tastings, while the chef, a lady of extraordinary talent, created dishes that surpassed every expectation.
The menu is a sensory journey: my partner's ramen was simply perfect, and the fried tofu redefined the concept of "delicious". My choice, a chef's selection of about 10 tastings, was a symphony of flavors. But the dish that literally moved me to tears was the smoked daikon with sake cream and paste - a flavor experience so intense it left me speechless.
The grand finale, a gelato accompanied by an artfully paired glass of sake, confirmed the excellence of this establishment.
This wasn't just a dinner, but an unforgettable gastronomic experience. The attention to detail, quality of ingredients, and mastery in preparation are evident in every bite. If you're looking for an authentic and surprising culinary adventure, this sake bar is a must-visit. It's an experience I highly recommend to anyone who loves good food and unique gastronomic discoveries.
The care put into every aspect of the meal, from the knowledgeable sake recommendations to the chef's innovative creations, elevates this sake bar from a simple restaurant to a true culinary destination. The smoked daikon dish, in particular, was a revelation - a perfect harmony of flavors that I'll be dreaming about for months to come.
Whether you're a sake enthusiast or a curious foodie, this hidden gem offers an experience that will delight your palate and create lasting memories. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in this exceptional culinary journey - it's a testament to the artistry of Japanese cuisine and the magic that happens when traditional techniques meet...
Read moreWonderful experience. The owners are a joy and I wasn't served anything I didn't like. The owners speak enough English to make ordering easy. Certainly pricey but worth it as a great memory in Japan.
You may need to get a reservation since there are few seats, but they take walk-ins as long as they aren't full.
This is much more a bar than restaurant, so don't come starving. That said, the food they do have is small portions but delicious. The most substantial option seemed to be the ramen.
The owner is a former sake distiller and will both give recommendations based on your tastes as well as tell you about the sake he serves you. His English is good enough to explain the sake well. They have over 100 sake to choose from and they have them categorized by type (sour, sweet, strong, etc). You can tell them a category and he will pick a recommendation from it. They have a tasting set to try multiple at once.
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. Nice jazz bar-esk music and soft lighting. They seemed to really care about your enjoyment and want you to have a good experience.
The tasting sets were ~¥1000 for the small size (30ml), best for trying many different sake. Each food...
Read moreExcellent bar to try different types of Sake and their small dishes. The selection was extensive and their food delicious. We had the Sake flight of 3 large (70cc) glasses, three times, to try a variety of staff recommended options. We really loved the selection of light, medium, heavy, fruity, sparkling, sweet, sour, aged and cloudy. We tried at least one of everything and the bar staff had excellent knowledge. The kitchen is all open plan so you can see them working away on your order. The atmosphere is very calm but elevated so you feel like you’re getting a premium local experience. The homemade pork ham is remarkably tender and the pickles all have their own unique flavour.
Definitely worth a visit if you want an authentic experience that is less tourism focused and proud of...
