Spent 3 nights here as a Lifetime Titanium member with over 2200 lifetime nights at Marriott properties. Our stay was on points. We were actually booked at another property, kept checking for it to open and changed to the Four Points Flex at the last minute. What a mistake that was.
Check in was fine. They even let us check in before 3 pm which if you know Japanese hotels, they are very strict with the check in time. That was much appreciated. I asked about breakfast since on the Marriott website, free breakfast was a benefit. They said no breakfast and I would get my Welcome Points. After finding the link online, I went back downstairs to show them that Free Breakfast is a Titanium benefit. They informed me that because the hotel is operated by a 3rd party, it does not qualify. Now, how would I know this was a 3rd party hotel? That is false advertising. The Marriott website should inform you that you will not get breakfast because this is a 3rd party hotel.
The Room - it is a VERY SMALL 141 SF. We stayed in 9 hotels in Japan during our 26 day trip and this by far felt like the smallest room we had. The other rooms were at least 160 SF. When you go to the bathroom, there is a HUGE step up. Also, no other amenities. There was no bottled water like in our other hotels.
I'm not sure why they even want to belong to Marriott other than to say they are part of a global brand. You will NOT get anything for being the highest level of elite. In fact, I didn't even get my Welcome Points. I sent a message to Marriott and they have yet to respond to me. I'm not holding my breath. Marriott has not treated their elite members right for years.
For the price, you can easily find something better. As for the location, it isn't very walkable to the Kanazawa Station if you have a lot of luggage or if it is raining like it was for us - it would take you about 20 minutes to walk from the station. We used GO Taxi from the station and paid 1100 Yen. However, there are buses you can take. As for location, besides being around Omicho market, I didn't find the location especially advantageous. We normally like to be closer to the train station for...
Read moreThis is a budget-friendly property within the Marriott Group, so budget-conscious, in fact, that you need to stay 2 nights just to earn Elite Night. Means if you stay 3 nights you will get only 1 Elite Night.
The standard rooms are quite cramped, which led me to opt for the bigger and pricier twin room. While it is still small by international standards, it’s considered more spacious in the Japanese context. Don’t expect an upgrade, as the hotel only offers two room types.
As a Platinum member, you’re offered a choice between points or a drink at check-in, but breakfast is not included and must be purchased separately. There’s no option to choose breakfast as part of your benefits.
The room is equipped with basic amenities, but toiletries must be picked up from the ground floor. Additionally, guests are required to bring out their own trash and used towels daily if they want them replaced or cleaned. Also to have the room cleaned up you need to stick the magnet at the room door to indicate you want the room to be cleaned up. Seems like housekeeping is an optional when staying here.
Service was a mixed experience. Staff were not particularly helpful when it came to making reservations… anything beyond a very casual restaurant was essentially up to me to handle. That said, I did appreciate the effort they eventually made to help me recover a lost hair clip that had sentimental value, though it took several requests.
The location is excellent, just a few minutes from the market and within walking distance of many attractions. There are also plenty of nearby bus connections for getting around easily.
Four Points Flex is a really not up to Marriott standards, more like a typical Japanese hotel with a 90s era setup in terms of size, design & overall service. Need to buck up to be part of...
Read moreI was positively surprised with my stay at this hotel. I booked last minute for the Japanese holidays and there were very few of options left in the city. I expected just a clean, basic stay in very budget hotel, but it turned out to be a great and quite comfortable experience.||I'm not sure if it's because it's Japan, but this hotel felt much better than other similar options I've stayed in the past, like Ibis. It was extremely clean, the bed comfortable enough bed (though the pillows were quite high), and the water, lighting and temperature control were very modern and made us feel at ease.||The location is another highlight. Easily accessible from the station by taxi or bus, close to the fish market and within walking distance to many other attractions. The surrounding area is also modern and pleasant to live in.||The staff's English was limited but service was polite and very good, as you would expect in Japan.||The only downsize is the room size. It's really small. While it feels cozy, so it's not suffocating for 2 people, a large suitcases it will take up most of the...
