We loved this hotel so much, would recommend it to anyone going to Kusatsu Onsen.

The staff service was friendly, prompt and top notch. From the very second we walked in to the second we left they were all so wonderful. The food was incredible with lots of variety, buffet breakfast and dinner. We are not vegetarian but I really liked the vege options, plus the meat options of course. Free non-alcoholic drinks. On our last night we purchased the all you can drink for 90 mins option for JPY1980. Included beer, the biggest sake glasses ever, wine, whisky, shoju and a couple other things. We stuck to beer and sake - definitely well worth it!

The 1st floor onsen was under maintenance but they did well by letting us know in advance of our stay. There was still the 2nd floor onsen available which was perfect. So relaxing, I used the onsen twice a day 😍 Note that Japan as a whole, not just this hotel, has a no tattoo culture so my husband was unable to use the onsen. Some places don't mind tattoos but generally most places won't allow you to use the onsen if you have tattoos.

Super handy location to the Yubatake. Just go down to the 1st floor and take the back door exit, then only a few minutes walk. Don't forget your Pin code to get back in again.

I'm not one for using creams and lotions but ladies make sure you grab the facial creams near reception at the free amenity area. They are awesome and my face was looking so radiant after use.

We booked the Tatami room which had Japanese style futons. It was adequate for our needs and cleaned well each day so we were happy enough. In hindsight I should have booked a room with a regular bed because we both have knee problems so getting up and down was a bit of a mission.

On reading other reviews, I just want to point out that I don't care about the room not auto locking. My own house doesn't auto lock and it's not difficult to turn a key!

Overall we loved this place so much and have already recommended it to friends. I hope the staff service remains friendly and top notch and doesn't become too jaded by horrible, moaning Karen's. You're doing a great job team at Kamenoi keep up...

We managed to reach the hotel around 5 pm. Do note you will be allocated bfast and dinner timing which could be inflexible if you have plans for the night or arrived hungry.

We stayed in a Deluxe twin room and there was a small electric fan already in the room, which helps with some air circulation. Unfortunately past mid night there was a strong sulpuric smell from outside ( we have to opened the window slightly as its warm for me) that kept me up.

There are 3 separate onsen which helps to disperse crowd - while i enjoyed the Hinoki onsen immersely, the main large bath ceiling is moldly and i dread breathing in the misty air inside. Hopefully the hotel could find a way to clean it soon.

I could understand that the hotel has to have strict policies on meal timing and seating. It was nice to observe the restaurant manager trying his best to accommodate seniors to be nearer to the serving areas first or earlier timing.

Staffs were polite, but overall hotel vibe feels somewhat restrictive and not as relaxing that I hope for in an onsen town.

The hotel is still under exterior refurbishment and that could explain why the lower prices thus high CP with a superb breakfast and dinner included.

That all said, Thank you for hotel’s efforts to accommodate us non-Japanese speaking visitors and making every second in the hotel easy for us.

Kusatsu Onsen is an amazing place to visit. The town has been upgraded with modern facilities like restrooms, seating areas and this hotel has easy access to the main area and easy walk to the open air onsen...

My wife and I recently stayed for a few days and had the best time, This country has shown us how to be more patient and caring towards others. The Hospitality and Service we received from the staff was outstanding.. I was struggling to find an Onsen that would accept me as I have visible (Cultural) tattoos, The Kamenoi receptionist allowed me to use their Onsen after hours. I was totally blown away and forever grateful for this very kind act. The Hotel is in a great location very central to all the main tourist attractions. We loved our room, I'm not a small person and found it easy to move around and even filled up the Bath-tub a few times whilst laxin with a beer. Breakfast and Dinner Buffet got me excited as the food was so delicious.. we would show up 15 minutes early to avoid the long line. The last night we both bought the 90mins Drink all you can pass which cost $25NZD ❤️‍🔥 Beers and Sake, was a perfect way to end our stay I have already told my friends and family how much fun we had and will return again

Thankyou...

PROS: Definitely one of the more premium hotels at Kusatsu within a 5 minute walking distance to Yubatake! The breakfast and dinner (with complementary night snacking) offers a wide variety of both national and intercontinental food options. The buffet alone is worth booking the hotel as other hotels do not seem to offer catering at this price! Rooms are spacious and clean. Kimono's are comfortable too. Kamenoi offers a variety of different hotel onsens which are very well maintained. CONS: Somewhat popular can lead to kimono scarcity. We booked a larger room as some rooms have been depicted and reviewed by some as small. When booking for 1-2 nights, there can be time constraints in terms of attending all onsens the hotel has to offer as they're located at different locations. These also close at different times depending on the type of onsen attended.
