Our host Shitatsu was absolutely key to the success of our stay in Kyoto! He was incredibly kind and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great time in the city. Upon arrival, he took the time to show us a map and guided us through all the different places we could go throughout our 6 day stay in the city. He had some really great tips for us and even recommended some lesser-known places that ended up being highlights of our trip!
We also had a few special requests during our stay, including ordering a book online, doing laundry, and booking a table at a restaurant. Shitatsu was more than happy to help us with everything, which we really appreciated.
The cherry on top of the cake was the little local sweets Shitatsu gave us - it was such a nice touch and really made us feel welcome.
In terms of amenities, there are three sinks that are shared, as well as a shower and a bath (the latter was so nice because I really needed to relax one evening after having walked around so much!). There are two toilets, and fresh towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided. There is also a fridge, microwave, and a corner with sweets, tea, and coffee - everything you need!
The rooms are very clean and well-maintained, as are the shower and bathtub. The only downside is that the walls and doors are quite thin, so if you're a light sleeper, you may be disturbed by other guests. However, Shitatsu kindly provides earplugs, so this wasn't a big issue for us.
The beds are traditional floor beds, so keep this in mind if you have back problems or if you're elderly. However, we slept really well and had no issues. There are also two types of pillows available per bed - bigger, fluffier ones and flatter ones, which was a nice touch.
Overall, we had an amazing stay at this hostel thanks to Shitatsu's hospitality and the great amenities provided. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone...
Read moreThe location is really close to the train station, so you can travel anywhere with ease and convenience. The rooms are extremely clean with wonderful scent. And the owner is most definitely satisfactory. I remember when we needed extra blankets for the little one. We asked him and within a minute, no questions asked, he gave us two. The best place we've ever stayed in for our...
Read moreA Little bit late to the party on the review front. We stayed with Shitatsu in April 2023 and it was a delightful 3 days. He was very helpful in guidance and knowledge of the area and Kyoto as a whole, and the space was very clean. It was great to stay in a more traditional style Japanese house and I'd love to stay again. Greetings from...
