Very Disappointing Check-in Experience
This hotel is definitely below my usual standards, especially when it comes to the check-in service.
We arrived around 11:30 a.m. I politely asked about the earliest possible check-in time, as my kids were really tired and needed some rest. I was expecting they might offer early check-in with an extra fee â which I was willing to pay â but was told we could check in at 12:00. I thanked them and went out for lunch.
When I came back around 1:00 p.m., I was told that there had been a misunderstanding and that I couldnât check in before 2pm. I was okay with that, since communication wasnât very smooth and mistakes can happen.
Then, I was told that I could check in early if I paid. Again, I agreed, even though it was less than an hour before regular check-in time. But then the staff said I needed to pay for the entire group I was traveling with. I explained that we checked in separately and that only I and my kids were checking in now â the others were out. She eventually accepted that.
After checking something in her book, she said my room was still being cleaned and early check-in wasnât possible. I said that was fine.
About 15 minutes later, she came back and said the room was now ready â but I still needed to pay to access it. At this point, it was less than 30 minutes before 2:00 p.m., and I was literally about to call a taxi.
Are you serious?
This was not fun at all. The entire process shows you exactly what to expect from this hotel: low standards and poor service culture. I wonât be...

However, problems began to arise. 1ïžâŁthe wall-mounted air conditioner is quite noisy when sleeping. 2ïžâŁ 7/8 mins walk to the bus stops to get to Kiyomizu-dera æž æ°ŽćŻșand ShijoćæĄ. The nearest Umaru Oike ćŸĄæ± underground station needs 10-mins walk and there are many steps. Not suitable for carrying large luggages 3ïžâŁ the biggest problem!! each person is limited to 1 bottle of water 1 day. One morning, my mother asked for 1 bottle and poured half into her bottle before leaving. In the evening we came back, she found that we didnât receive any bottles of water. So she went to the reception and got 1. The next night when we came back, there was no water replenishment again!!?(we didn't ask for it that morning), then we were told we had taken today's water yesterday ïŒïŒïŒI went down and explained 3 times then they finally understood what I was talking aboutđReluctantly, they made up for it and asked who gave us the water yesterday. (Sounds like he was going to check CCTVđ° If it weren't for the trash being cleared away, I really afraid he would rummage through the trash can. There was no âlimit waterâ sign in any platform. No staff reminded. No terms. They spent a long time looking for, but there was only a price list of extra items. Really awful service attitude 4ïžâŁïžjunichi yamaguchi only goes to âHereâ...
Read moreHi so we checked into the HOMM STAY NAGI SANJO KYOTO; and found that the theme âglamping roomâ we reserved to very much not meet expectations. The roomâs âcamping tentâ had guide lines that created trip hazards all over the room, and made the room unsafe for our baby. The windows of the room were frosted glass so they had no view what so ever. The photos of the room we booked from looked bright and colorful, but in real life the space was dingy and cave like. But worst of all, in the booking photos they showed different furnished areas, that depicted the room to be far larger than it was- because the photos were of different furniture configurations of the space. When we informed the hotel staff, and asked for a different room, they told us the hotel was fully booked; as was their sister hotel here in Kyoto. We immediately booked a reservation at a different hotel and left. Now I know I booked a non-refundable stay, but Iâm pretty upset that the Homm Stay has refused to give me any of my money back. Theyâre keeping all four nights I paid for, even though we only stayed there 20 minutes. To not give me at least half of my money back is a...
