Came here and everything went smooth until our last day. We were never told this at check in, but when we went to eat breakfast they asked if we had a card for breakfast at the hotel. First time, no problem just pay for the buffet. ||However, on our last day they told us that there was no more availability and that we could not eat at the restaurant. Mind you this was at 6:45 am. The front desk tried explaining to us that we needed could not done in, but he could offer recommendation to eat near by. Yelp and google could do that for me, nice gesture I suppose. Still unexpected and unprofessional on the part of the hotel not explaining the protocol to the breakfast and check in. The front desk person did try to ask the restaurant to accommodate us, but the restaurant refused at 6:50am with plenty of seating. ||The front desk person, at no fault of his own kept bowing and was very apologetic. I almost felt bad for him, as he could not provide the services the hotel could offer to my family of three. To say that the experience didn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth would be a lie. ||The hotel was comfortable, I loved the spa, and the rooms and structure were neat and tidy. Would I stay here again? Possibly, but next time I would know to get the breakfast plan or inquire about it early if I planned to dine there, or I would simply look else where for breakfast...
Read moreI've stayed in 4 different mid/higher range hotels around Kyoto over the years and this one was the best. Really aesthetically pleasing mix of the heritage of the area and modern amenities. Very clean and great service from front of house to the room service staff. This was the first time we haven't stayed next to Kyoto station and was a bit worried we would be 'too far out' but we really enjoyed the area surrounding the hotel and the cool shops and eateries. We stayed 3 nights for 4 people. Two people shared one bed and others slept on their own bed. The room was a bit tight with three beds but had a nice cozy feel and we always felt comfortable. The room makes good use of limited space with storage layout. Beds were very comfortable (not too hard and not too soft) with different pillow options in the room. Bathroom/shower room was super clean (which is always a huge tick). And the onsen down stairs was great after a day of sightseeing. There are two coin washing machines. They were busy when we wanted to use so utilised the same day hotel laundry service which is reasonably priced. We also used the language drop off service to the sister hotel at Kyoto station (few hundred yen per bag). This meant after we checked out we did more sightseeing, then when it was time to catch the Shinkansen we picked up our luggage nearby Kyoto station..Nice!! Would...
Read moreWe stayed here with our 6 year old boy, very good experience. It’s a boutique hotel, not the standard chain hotel. You need to immerse yourself in the vibes offered. The lobby has a beautiful little fern garden, wood art on the wall with story(you were to read and find out yourself). Check in staff were amazingly fluent with English and super professional. They even help us to take care of our self help laundry when we need to go out for meal. Room does not have window, but we don’t really feel uncomfortable because the design make us feel relax. They provide us 3 single beds, each of us have good sleep. Corridor walk way is narrow, it’s Japan. Worth mentioning, it’s super duper clean without a bit of dust! Matcha tea set was given in room, however, never get replenish as we choose to go green to reuse the towel. Had 2 breakfast at the restaurant, good for 2 days. Western and Japanese meal for options. If you stayed longer you may find it lack of choice. It’s tasty anyway. No issue with wifi like others mentioned. Body lotion is not given in room, we requested and get it. Paid laundry is useful, help yourself when no one use it, just toss in and use. Quiet and relaxing, if you love the vibes this is your choice. If you like many amenity like swimming pool or business floor, not this beautiful...
