The rooms, meticulously clean and adorned with traditional tatami mats, offer a genuine sense of immersion into Japanese culture. Its located near the bustling Nishiki Market and the historic temples of old Kyoto. The warmth and hospitality of the staff is unmatched. The team goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel not just welcomed but also embraced by the rich heritage and warmth of Japanese hospitality.

The common bath, a cherished part of Japanese culture, provides a serene retreat after a day of exploring Kyoto. It's a rejuvenating experience, allowing you to unwind and soak away the fatigue of the day's adventures.

Moreover, the additional activities like the handkerchief stamping classes and enchanting tea ceremonies are delightful opportunities to delve deeper into Japanese customs and traditions. The ryokan's dedication to preserving and sharing these cultural aspects amplifies the authenticity of the stay.

We opted for the Japanese breakfast option and it's an absolute must-try. The mornings at NISHIYAMA ryokan are graced with beautifully presented and equally delicious meals, further enhancing the overall experience. I resommend you wear the readitional clothes and have a nice breakfast.

In sum, NISHIYAMA ryokan isn't just a place to stay; it's an invitation to fully immerse oneself in the genuine essence of Japanese culture, complemented by spotless rooms, unparalleled hospitality, and a range of cultural experiences that leave a...

My husband and I stayed at the Nishiyama Ryokan for one night during our trip to Japan and we can happily say that it was one of the highlights. The room was beautiful and you get to experience what it's like to sleep in a traditional Japanese room. We got to relax in the Public bath and witness a Koto concert which was definitely a remarkable experience, at the end of the concert I got to play the Koto instrument guided by the musician, making an unforgettable memory. The staff from the hotel were always very nice and helpful, they gifted us a beautiful picture of us with the koto musician which was a very special present from them. At our checkout day we got to have a delicious traditional japanese breakfast, which was a very nice experience, everything was made with care and effort, it was amazing to be able to indulge and get to know what a real japanese breakfast is all about.

Moreover we got to experience a matcha tea ceremony and see how it's traditionally made, the matcha was delicious and I got to try to make my own matcha tea.

We received a very nice goodbye present on our last day and when we were leaving the hotel rain was pouring and one of the staff ran out to gift us an umbrella, we are very grateful for the service and kindness from the staff.

We want to thank Nishiyama san and all the staff for making our stay remarkable, we will for sure recommend the Ryokan to friends and we hope to come back in the...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Authentic Ryokan Experience in Kyoto

I recently stayed at a beautiful traditional ryokan in Kyoto, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the hostess welcomed us with warm hospitality, making us feel right at home.

One of the highlights was the private tea ceremony she personally conducted for us. Not only did she demonstrate the art of preparing matcha with grace and precision, but she also kindly allowed us to try making it ourselves. It was a serene and immersive experience that deepened our appreciation for Japanese culture.

The traditional breakfast was another standout—beautifully presented with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Every dish was a delight, offering a true taste of Kyoto’s culinary heritage.

A small but meaningful tip: don’t forget to wear the provided yukata (kimono) when heading to breakfast or the tea ceremony! It truly enhances the experience and makes you feel part of the ryokan’s tranquil atmosphere.

The room was spacious, with tatami flooring and futon beds that were surprisingly comfortable. The onsen (hot spring bath) was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring Kyoto.

If you’re looking for an authentic, culturally rich stay in Kyoto, this ryokan is a perfect choice. The hostess’s kindness and attention to detail made our stay truly special. I can’t wait to return!

Highly...
