Stay SAKURA Kyoto Higashi Hongan-jiⅠ — Hotel in Kyoto

When I booked this room, I was looking for clean rooms, wifi to do some trip planning, and a place to do my laundry. Nothing fancy. Unfortunately this hotel was unable to provide these three basic amenities to satisfaction.

The rooms were not clean (carpet wasn’t vacuumed, desk had sticky stuff, small bits of mud in the bathroom), wifi was extremely slow (absolutely unusable, had to use mobile data) and laundry was terrible AND chargeable (the dryer didn’t seem to be working properly and it took 1.5 hours to partially dry my clothes - I ended up having to hang them to dry in my bathroom. They have a drying vent and facility to hang clothes in the bathroom thank god) Additionally, they are very restrictive about check in timings, luggage pick up and drop off timings, even though there always seem to be staff members at the desk. Acceptable for a budget hotel but this hotel is too expensive to have to deal with all the above problems.

Really hard to give any bad comment about this place , it’s very nice, but here we go: the bed was too big, they put 2x 1.5person beds next to each other to make a double bed, which means there is no space left around the room, one bed goes against the balcony, and you cannot access the balcony, and you have to crawl out of the end of the bed. There is absolutely no need for such huge beds. Otherwise the place is very good for the price, no defects, it looks brand new. I would have liked more hooks on walls or doors and more hanging rails for hand towels and maybe some shelves above the kitchenette to free up the counter top, etc. (especially because there is no space to put the suitcases anywhere because the beds are so huge) But otherwise all good! The blinds are not completely blackout, but the hotel...

Amazing hotel I had a wonderful stay! I will definitely be coming back! The rooms were spacious and was beautifully furnished and designed, the bathroom was really clean and nice, and had all the amenities that were needed. The rooms were very clean and had no weird smell as if it was brand new. The humidifier function was really useful. Staff were friendly. Location is great as there are convenience stores and supermarkets within a 5 minute walk radius. It takes a quick 10 minutes drive to kyoto station which is very convenient. Only downside was that the room did not have a chair or anything to sit on other than the bed. There is no parking included but there are many parking spaces available nearby.
