after a few weeks of traveling together, one can steal an hour away from one's family and have dinner with a book & a beer in a small kyoto neighborhood resto serving japanese style curry. food was vy satisfying (had the black sesame curry) and, were i still in my 20s like this eastern european couple sat next to me, exactly the kind of atmosphere i wouldve hoped to find wherever i happened to be with the current love of my life (bali?). but bc i left my 20s many years ago, what i appreciated most about this meal was the special spoon and dinner dish combination: dish was 9-inches & curved upwards along its edge about an inch; spoon's handle wasnt straight but curved at an angle that made eating out of the dish perfectly harmonious without a fork. this level of thoughtfulness just moves me :) anyway, i should mention tbfair that my bench mark for food is more like the old tabla at madison sq park or early aughts nobu bc, as ive...

A little kick that built up throughout, very tasty overall, definitely a highlight of my trip. If I happen to visit Kyoto again it'll be a must...
