My Husband and I stayed here because the price was right and the facility is well reviewed. The traditional room for a pair was in good condition, with a sky light that lit the room in the daytime with a natural glow. We liked it very much, particularly the communal area with its huge collection of board games. ||||This place is walkable over 15 minutes with luggage from Kyoto station. Bus stop is just opposite with a service that goes to and from the Kyoto station. The staff were friendly and helpful. ||||Things to keep in mind are the shared toilets which required some waiting for at ‘peak periods’. This is fine but not ideal for families with kids, of course. Walls are thin and you have to be very quiet during the early morning and evening. Finally, there’s no room safe and the private room doors lock with a combination padlock - this is certainly a consideration if you have many valuables...
Read moreGreat location. Very cute and authentic. Staff are very nice! Cafes and laundry around. They also have lots of board games and coffee and tea, and a map of Kyoto vegan food etc super helpful. Hair dryer provided as well. I would say perfect for 1-2 nights to experience the traditional housing but longer than that it’s not very comfy (like shower is very hot and humid since it’s small and outside). Please, if you are a guest DO NOT use such hot shower for so long, think about others! And please don’t stomp down like crazy! Consider others. Pack your things before 10pm and not at 5am making all the noises for hours, shocked at how disrespectful some people can be. Has nothing to do with the guesthouse just people need to be more...
Read moreEverything at Bokuyado was fantastic! ||||Me and my boyfriend stayed there for a couple of nights and we couldn't ask for a better place. The location, our (so) big and comfy room, the futons, the owners are super nice (Thank you so much Lance and Migo!). The fact that the kitchen was totally available for us was a super plus! We could buy our things and then prepare breakfast or dinner there :D Also tea and water were available for free anytime, so another big plus! ||||The guesthouse is conveniently located near bus stops and subway station so no problem at all with transport. The area itself is so beautiful and safe.||||Everyone is going to fall in love with Kyoto but if you stay at Bokuyado Guesthouse, your experience will be...
