Located a short walk from Subway Gojo station exit 3, it can be easy to miss as it is located near the end of a side alley but the entrance is beautiful ad hard to miss. This is a quieter area of Kyoto.
From the bustling Kyoto station to here, it is only 1 stop by Subway, or a 20 min walk. From here, you can either take Subway or walk 10 mins to the nearby Hankyu line to get to the sightseeing spots.
Front desk staff is very friendly and kind.
The hotel and rooms are new, spacious and clean. I booked the design room which comes with beds and a tatami area and got a room on the 6th floor. There is a small balcony with excellent view of Kyoto Tower.
There is a suite room on the 7th floor - you get the whole floor including the rooftop to yourself if you take this suite room. I would like to try the next time.
The hotel does not have breakfast service but you don't need breakfast service in Kyoto as there are places to eat nearby, as well as some specialty breakfast shops serving traditional Kyoto style breakfast around the city.
Laundry+dryer combo machines are also new and very effective. Do note that you will need to either bring your own detergent or purchase from the front desk.
If you are checking in after 10pm or before 10am, please inform them earlier as there is no front desk staff from 10pm to 10am and the entrance is locked. You can easily unlock the hotel entrance door with your room key if you plan to...
Read moreGood value, clean and refurbished small hotel. Double room on the fifth floor had a surprisingly panorama view of Kyoto cityscape. It was spacious for 4 night stay, quiet, and the bathroom clean and modern. But the mattress was slightly creaky and the bath towels wafer-thin. Self-service laundry and microwave were available on the ground floor for guests. Staff were kind and friendly, and helped with luggage transfer and taxi booking. Conveniently located a few minutes walk from Gojo subway station, and also walkable to Kyoto Station in 15-20 minutes. Situated on a side street flanking a main road (with 7-Eleven, McDonalds, Fresco supermarket) and a quaint old neighbourhood of tiny homes, laneways and hidden eateries. Will stay here again if the...
Read morePlace looked nice and was clean, but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. I had stayed at another hotel just down the street on the business portion of my trip. For that hotel I had to stay within my company per diem. For this one I decided I could pay more for something nicer. Really regretting that decision. After a long day walking around the city, I just want a comfortable place to sleep. I can't do that here.
Location was good. Lots of walkable places. The Gojo subway station is very close, but expect to transfer for many sights.
Edit: After staying a few nights the bed wasn't that bad. But none of the other reviews mentioned this so leaving it as a warning for people that like a...
