I've travelled to Osaka in the past and staying at this place was one of the best experience I ever had. The entire location was very clean, and my bunk bed was spacious and comfortable. Additionally, this hostel is 5 minutes away from the Shinsaibashi train station, and Dotonbori is less than 10 minutes away. I got to know both owners, Kazuaki (the son) and Kazunori (the dad) throughout my trip. They're both really friendly, and gave my friend and I lots of food recommendations ranging from ramen to sushi, and even Indian curry. During the middle of my trip, I caught a bit of a cough, and they did not hesitate to offer suggestions for medicine, and they gave me a medicinal spray for my throat and a Japanese health tonic to tide me over. In addition to being friendly, they're super easy to talk to, since Kazuaki has great English speaking abilities, and Kazunori has good English comprehension from just listening to the various guests that they've taken care of over the years. Occasionally, when there was downtime in the hostel, my friend and I, along with the Kazus, would chill in the lounge and exchange stories about our home and culture. Even in the instances when our language barriers became a minor issue, we all busted out Google Translate and easily got through it. If you are looking for a more sociable experience in your Osaka trip, the lounge downstairs is very relaxing. On Saturdays starting at 5pm, there is a jam session with the Kazus, where guests can play various instruments such as piano, guitar, and drums. Anyone is free to hang out and for people with less musical ability such as myself, there are bongo drums and a triangle, so it is easy to join in. Overall, if you are looking for a convenient, comfortable location with friendly staff, and are leaning towards a social atmosphere, I would definitely...

Everything is fine though I would stay at a private room next time and not share.
Pros: They provide new towels every night you stay, no new toothbrush, and a flip flop. Con, no small towel to dry head, just one big towel. The front desk and staffs are very nice in general, helpful and accommodating. I asked for a bottom bunk bed and they allow it for free. I also asked for early luggage storage and that was allow for free. Private shower space for women guests There’s a mini kitchen and restroom on the women only floor Washer and dryer onsite so it’s really convenient! 300 yen to wash, 100 yen for 30mins dryer. Coin only
Cons: Only one washer and dryer so you might end up waiting…? The dryer is really bad. I had 3 pants For one particular guest. It is 1:30 AM and she is unzipping then zipping then unzipping and zipping… the quiet time starts from 23:00 to 7:00… wtf. If I was in a Japanese guests place like the last three hostels I’ve been at. The guests are MUCH more mindful of their noise level…. they charge 100 fee per night and only takes cash… I stayed for 4 nights so they took 400 yen, around $3 usd. too many foreigners and tourists… not very Japanese experience… They also asked for a 10,000 yen deposit, around $70 usd. The other 3 capsules and hostels I stayed at in Fukuoka, Narita, Hiroshima didn’t ask for a deposit… maybe because it’s geared towards foreigners and we’re a bunch of scammers LOL. Can’t have...
Read morePlease read! I would suggest avoiding this unfriendly and money grabbing hostel. Unsure of how they have the rating they do!
After having travelled over 2 hours with luggage we were greeted by an intercom, and assumed that reception was not manned. After back and forward through the intercom we eventually were allowed access to the hotel - to find the voice from the intercom was sitting on the other side of the door. Ridiculous. We then were made pay 1600 yen to have our luggage stored for 2 hours between 1pm and 3pm as check-in was 3pm. The first time in Japan for this at the pre check in stage, money grabbing! Bad first impression and staff not over friendly.
Finally, we were then asked to pay 10k yen up front as a deposit, again this was a first time in Japan. Very poor experience on check-in. After sharing our thoughts on the situation, and how this was our first experience of these policies the staff member proceeded to tell us that giving your opinion in Japan is considered offensive and he suggested not doing so and did not listen to our thoughts or feelings at all.
Other important points to note: Facial recognition cameras everywhere are highly unsettling. Never seen as many rules & fees in a hostel also unsettling. Wouldn’t provide WiFi on arrival, saying it would be provided after the 3pm check-in.
That being said the facilities & location are very good! If the staff could change the over bearing & over charging policies this place...
