RoomsâŚâŚ.TINYâŚ.Bonvoy rewardsâŚdisappointing. ||Iv been with my other half for over 12 years, this room put that to the test!|There is no room for suitcases. We had one standard sized suitcase and one small back pack each so that took up any âextraâ space which may have existed. We had to carefully coordinate our movements around the room including when to remove items from out cases, who would use the bathroom and when and how we would be out of each others way for each carefully planned manoeuvre. My other half had to climb over me to get in or out of the bed. The bathroom could only fit 1 person at a time. ||However, friendly staff, a lovely signature scent in the lobby, handy amenities table to help yourself to before heading up the lift, tea and coffee facilities in the room are appreciated as well as many of the other amenities in the room. And most importantly, the location is exceptional! 5 minute walk to Dotonbori, you cant do much better at this price. ||A few considerations to make, breakfastâŚ..I personally would not bother paying for it again unless its rock bottom prices, it was very odd and inconsistent. It was very minimal and not really aimed to the western palate which I suppose is fair enough. Also dont dwell too long, you will be asked to leave at exactly 1030 regardless of whether you have finished buttering your croissant or not. |Lifts, rather painful waits regularly. There are only 2 for what I think was 10 floors. I spent almost 10 minutes on one occasion waiting for a lift. Not sure if it was staff holding the lifts elsewhere but it was frustrating. |BonvoyâŚ.I was very disappointed to realise after I had booked that I would not receive Bonvoy Nights for each night I stayed here. You only receive a night for 2 nights stayed. I stayed 3 yet will only have 1 credited. This is a bit of a scam if you ask me. My own fault for not actually noticing it when I booked, Iâll be more diligent in the future. If earning nights is important to you, avoid this property. ||Having said all that, I still found the hotel acceptable. The price was right, the location superb and my marriage is still intact. ||I would...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton near Kyoto Station, and it truly exceeded all my expectations! Among the two DoubleTree hotels in the city, this oneâs close proximity to the station makes it incredibly appealing, and its modern appearance suggests it's one of the newer options available. After a steaming hot walk from Kyoto Stationâwhich is only about ten minutes if you know the wayâI immediately fell in love with this hotel at first sight! The ambiance and aesthetic were so inviting that I impulsively decided to cancel my hotel booking in Osaka and extend my stay hereâa little rebellious decision, but one I do not regret! However, navigating from Kyoto Station to the hotel can be a bit of a challenge, much like maneuvering through a maze. It would be fantastic if the hotel could provide a clear guide for guests after booking so that everyone can easily find their way.The interior design of the hotel beautifully blends Japanese elements, reflecting the charm and heritage of Kyoto. Walking through the lobby felt like stepping into a traditional Japanese art piece, perfectly in tune with the city's ancient spirit.Convenience is another highlight! With a 7-11 right next door, itâs as easy as pie to grab a late-night snack. Itâs almost like having a personal convenience store just a stone's throw awayâperfect for satisfying those midnight cravings! Moreover, the staff here are exceptionally trained and eager to assist. Every question was answered accurately, and the service was impressively speedyâtruly a testament to their professionalism. To quote one staff member, âWe aim to make every guest feel at home,â and they certainly lived up to that promise.Although I didnât get to try the breakfast during my stay, as I had early excursions planned to avoid the crowds, Iâm already looking forward to tasting it on my next visit. If the rest of my experience is any indication, I have no doubt it will be delicious!Overall, the DoubleTree by Hilton near Kyoto Station offers an incredible blend of comfort, convenience, and cultural richness. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a...
Read moreThe location was quite good as itâs near many shopping areas, convenient stores and restaurants. You can also take the escalator from shinsaibashi metro station to Parco shopping centre and go out from the entrance at level 1 , itâs about a 3 mins walk from there. However, if given a choice again, I would probably choose to stay near namba station as itâs easier for me as I took the express bus and went for one day tour to Nara where the meeting point is near nipponbashi. Walking from the hotel to these places would take 15-25 minutes.Itâs not an easy feat if you have a heavy luggage. The hotel is small but it has everything in it, you donât need to bring much amenities as most of it are in your room and some you can collect them yourself from the lobby. Youâll need to use the kettle in your room to collect drinking water from your levelâs elevator area. For some reason, the window had some light shining into my room (not sure if itâs just me) and the curtain wasnât able to block the lights. So itâs definitely not for people that canât sleep with lights on. Also, the toilet had a terrible smell that doesnât go away despite me staying for a few nights there. To make things worst, thereâs mold all around the room even in corners of my bed, which kinda triggered my allergies. So I had to make sure Iâm always outside instead of staying in the room for long. But despite it all, I truly appreciate the cleaners cleaning my room daily and replenishing towels, beddings, disposable slippers, tea and coffee daily. The receptionist were very friendly and greeted me daily too.Itâs honestly not a bad hotel for this price, but Iâll probably not choose to...
