❗️This message is dedicated to those who wish to feel love, respect, and compassion at a guesthouse.
I recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience human warmth, to those who want to share the joy that comes from travel memories.
Google Maps and star ratings often speak for themselves. When a single low rating appears among ten glowing ones, people tend to fixate on it. I was no different. With mixed feelings of anticipation and concern, I visited Maru House. After chatting with the owner and sharing stories about life, I realized — it's hard to find someone this kind-hearted.
Even the mattresses in the dormitory (which sleeps four) are made of memory foam. That’s not something you often find.
Actually, I’ve worked part-time at Korean guesthouses in the UK six times. So I’m pretty familiar with how guesthouses operate. And yet, I offer such high praise not to make the owner feel good, but as a sincere recommendation for you to visit this place.
Why do we travel? For new challenges? Because we’re tired of our current lives? Everyone has their own reasons, but I don’t think they stray far from those ideas. Maybe we simply want to break away from fixed roles and enjoy a refreshing change of pace.
If you work in service, I’m sure you’ll understand. Still, it’s rare to find such attentive service at such an affordable price. It’s even rarer for a guesthouse to be maintained with this level of detail for 16 years. Less than 1 in 100 businesses last even 3 years. And this is in Japan, no less.
If you’ve read this far, perhaps you’re someone who feels a bit anxious about traveling. If so, I especially recommend Maru House to you.
If you're someone not just looking for a place to sleep, but seeking something deeper — greater happiness — then I want to say this: what you’ll find here is not just service, but sincerity.
Isn’t that what a happy life is about? No need to search far and wide. Thank you, Maru House,...
Read moreNice hostel in a good location right next to the tower in Shinsekai. This is a hostel in the traditional Japanese house so it feels very cozy and homey. It’s being cleaned everyday and they give you fresh body towels everyday. The beds have curtains. AC was working good. They also have lockers in the main area for your valuables. The area felt very safe and was walking at night all the time. The owner is Korean and was super sweet, he showed me everything personally and even gave me a small gift.Maybe it’s not the best option for western backpackers who wanna make friends though because I was the only westerner in the hostel. It seemed like most of the guests were living there long term so it’s not really “travelling and meeting...
Read moreThe price was a little bit expensive! No washlet, no room service! It's more like a hostel. Shower room had hairs, one room & 4 bunker bed! Also the place is little bit crowdy (a lot of local food is a good point). Also, it's behind a red light district. Disappointed on service & price but met a some other solo travelers who were...
