"I'm not afraid of being in love. I'm just afraid of not being loved back." - Romance Doll
Sakanaya Rokusen Sushi Honten has won my heart. Located just under the Hitachi Tsutenkaku Tower you'd expect a tourist trap, however this place is legit! Prices are mid-higher range, but not overpriced like most areas in Ginza. To most it's simply known as Rokusen Honten and to some it's just "that berri berri good sushi spot!"
On a recent business (ahem) trip to Osaka I decided on a whim to get sushi in the Naniwa Ward in Osaka. I googled, yelped, and perused Instagram for a lunch spot. Sakanaya Rokusen Sushi Honten hit all the marks and it was just a short stroll for me. I arrived just before opening so was second in line just behind an influencer from Singapore. I figured she was either that or a hungry tourist with the latest vlogging set lol.
We were warmly greeted when the doors opened and both led to the bar area which is perfect for travelers like me. The menu was traditional paper or modern tablet. I ended up using the OG menu for the pics and the tablet to place my order. The menu had many choices and I decided on the Unagi lunch set and Japanese Beer on tap. I also added three pieces of Tuna Nigiri with a dash of Wasabi. Service friendly and efficient.
The Unagi, Tamagoyaki, Miso Soup in front of me before I could quote my romantic love and death Haiku to the lovely waitress. The Tuna Nigiri followed with a second round of icy cold Biru! I enjoyed every bite of the high quality Unagi, savored the fatty Tuna, and every drop of Biru!
In the end, Sakanaya Rokusen Sushi Honten in Osaka has become my favorite spot for quality Sushi and Seafood sets. The vibe friendly and welcoming. I can't wait til next time! And though I didn't get the chance to quote my romantic love and death Haiku to Sayuri... we did talk about Japanese Drama and Sanrio characters. Kanpai!

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at [Restaurant Name], a Japanese restaurant that left a lasting impression.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior was decorated in a traditional Japanese style, with wooden accents, soft lighting, and tasteful Japanese art on the walls. The tatami - mat seating area added an extra touch of authenticity, making me feel like I had been transported to Japan.
Now, let's talk about the food. I started with the edamame, which were perfectly steamed and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The beans were fresh and had a wonderful, slightly sweet flavor. For my main course, I ordered the sushi platter. The variety of fish was impressive, and each piece was a work of art. The slices of raw fish were thick, fresh, and melted in my mouth. The rice was cooked to perfection - sticky but not overly so, and it had a light, vinegary flavor that complemented the fish beautifully. The sashimi was equally delicious, with the high - quality fish being the star of the show.
I also tried their tempura, and it was outstanding. The batter was light and crispy, and the vegetables and seafood inside were cooked just right. The dipping sauce added a nice, tangy flavor.
The service at the restaurant was top - notch. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to refill my tea and answer any questions I had.
Overall, I had an amazing dining experience at this Japanese restaurant. The combination of great food, authentic atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a place I would highly recommend. Whether you're a fan of Japanese cuisine or just looking to try something new, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I can't wait to go back and explore more...
Read moreCame here for lunch with my family and were first on the line. They sat us by the bar area at one end of the corner away from the main view. I don’t like corner seats and asked to move closer to the main area and we’re told ‘no’ in English. I was ready to leave but sucked up as my son was nice enough to change seat with me so I am not at the corner. For the whole duration of the lunch time the seats next to me ( where I wanted to seat ) were empty. You would think being first , you get to choose where you want to sit , apparently now here. ‘No’ , is what you will get! I assumed the person seating us is thinking on Tuesday , they will be full. Instead,Almost lost this family’s business.
Why am I giving this place 5 stars? The head chef(I think) changed the vibe, speaks good English and took the time to explain how to order with the iPad like device. We ended up with 4 different lunch sets and each is simply amazing from presentation to tastiness . Additionally, we got miso cod and sashimi Abalone. These two dishes alone could add a six star to this place! Thanks to the head chief for making this lunch a memorable one and not a...
