Situated in the heart of Shinsekai in the Naniwa ward, we stayed at the b-Osaka Shinksekai for our 5 days in Osaka.
Immediately outside the hotel, we were embraced by the bright neon signs of the eateries, the gigantic faux food displays, and the lively atmosphere. The hotel is in close proximity to Tsutenkaku (observation deck), a Mega Don Quijote, and Spa World. Ebisucho and Dobutsuen-Mae stations are also a relatively short walk from the hotel.
Pros: • Friendly staff • Great location and reasonably priced • Able to drop off luggage prior to the 3pm check-in • Good view of Tsutenkaku from our room • Free coffee station in lobby • Complimentary daily afternoon treat in lobby (the cookie and red bean buns were incredible) • Access to laundry facilities (also see below Cons) • Lifts have lowered buttons for less-mobile guests
Cons: • Standard small sized room • Overly firm mattress • A musty feeling inside the room could be due to the build-up of condensation that appeared every morning on the window sills • The shower-over-bath was quite cramped and a big climb to get in. Not suitable for those with mobility issues or parents trying to bathe young children. • Only 2 washing machines and 1 dryer are available, but it's occupied most of the time. The dryer wasn't very efficient, and it took 3 cycles for our clothes to be even semi-dried • Cleanliness of the room was average
The b-Osaka Shinksekai is a good option for guests who want to stay in a buzzing part of town at a...

The hotel is located very close to Lawson’s and various restaurants in the Shinsekai area. It’s also near tax-free shops and souvenir stores under Tsūtenkaku Tower, as well as SPAWORLD, a great onsen nearby.
Getting to the train station is very convenient, whether you’re heading out to explore or pulling luggage to travel to another city.
The rooms are cleaned daily using an Eco Cleaning system, which includes making the bed, changing towels, and taking out the trash. Full cleaning is done on the 4th and 7th days of your stay, including vacuuming, bathroom cleaning, and changing the bedsheets.
The room size is just right—not too big, but not so small as to feel cramped. It’s ideal for travelers who prioritize sightseeing during the day.
The air conditioner can be adjusted to function as a heater, and the room has a vent that allows fresh air from outside to come in.
At the lobby, there are delicious snacks available for free during specific times (as informed by the staff). There’s also a luggage scale for...
Read moreGreat affordable place to stay in Shinsekai, with a Lawsons and train station not far away. You get what you pay for, and the room is comfortable enough, definitely bigger than most budget hotels in Tokyo(not sure about Osaka...).
One weird quip is that the front staff refused to book us a taxi..? They said we had to go to the taxi area (not that far of a walk), but they did not want to call a taxi for us to get picked up closer to the hotel. There is literally an area near the back where I have seen people getting dropped off, so unsure why this was an issue. I have also seen taxis at the front of the hotel.
If you're simply planning on adventuring most of the time, then this is a comfortable place for you to sleep...
