40 capsule in a room, all night brightly illuminated (???!!!) snoring orchestra:
In order to find cheap but fine accommodation while beeing in Osaka I found this greatly reviewed Capsule Hotel. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. The staff was very friendly and very helpfull during Check in. The locker area is enormous but you have barely space to turn around while storing your belongings. The capsules are very Clean and freshly remodeled but there are 40 capsules in one room and let me tell you, they dont block snoring... Unfortunately the shades do not Block any light either (which is not being turned off the entire night????!!!!!!). This combination leads to barely any sleep which the included bath cant compensate. Foreigner-friendly: they have an English cheat sheet printed up for how to use the place, and were most polite about my walking up to the front desk in my shoes, having completely ignored the big signs saying "take off your shoes" at the entrance. In the event, everyone was quiet as a mouse and I slept soundly. The standard capsules have 3" futons, fresh, clean sheets, and big, fluffy, comforters. (There are also more premium options with thicker mattresses, I think.) I didn't have the time to try out the sauna and bath, but they are available with every...

We booked via Booking 2 weeks in advance for 2 capsules. No where on the hotel page did it say "no body tattoos allowed" We arrived after a long day at Universal Studios and just wanted to rest. We then say the sign stating no tattoos allowed, we thought it was just for the onsen/spa part of the place.
We were unfortunately surprised to find out that it was total entrance to the hotel. We were not allowed to stay at the hotel we booked in advance because of tattoos.
If it was stated clearly on the hotel page in booking, I could understand. I realize Japan has cultural differences when it comes to tattoos. However, it wasn't stated, and it really turned the evening sour scrambling for a new place to stay.
Luckily, we found Kamon Hotel, which, to be honest, is much nicer, cheaper, and does not discriminate people...
