Why Oriental Namba Was the Perfect Stay for Our First Trip to Osaka For my first-ever trip to Japan, I chose Osaka as our destination—and picking the right hotel quickly became a top priority. Traveling with kids meant convenience, comfort, and accessibility were non-negotiables. After careful research, we booked Oriental Namba, and it couldn’t have been a better decision. 📍 Location, Location, Location The hotel’s biggest strength? Its unbeatable location. Just a 3-minute walk from the Rapid train and multiple subway lines, getting around Osaka was a breeze. The area is also surrounded by delicious eateries and local hotspots, perfect for exploring the city’s vibrant food scene. 🛌 Family-Friendly & Worth the Upgrade Although the room was a little more expensive than other options, we opted for a bunk bed upgrade for the kids—a choice that added both space and fun to our stay. Watching their excitement made it totally worthwhile! 🛎️ Thoughtful Touches There was a Korean-speaking staff member on hand, which made communication smooth and stress-free. The convenience store right downstairs was incredibly useful for late-night snacks or quick essentials. 🚍 Bonus for Korean Travelers For those booking Kyoto or Nara tours through a Korean travel agency, there’s a great perk: the Korean tourist bus pickup point is just five minutes away on foot. That made our day trips even more seamless. Whether you're traveling with family or just want a central base with all the essentials, Oriental Namba is a solid choice to kick off your Osaka adventure. I’m already dreaming about our next visit!

Stayed here for 4 nights with a family of 3 my wife, son and myself. First things first location here is gold and this is why for location I give 5 stars. Your right did center of all the food businesses. Down the street is Dotonbori and the other the Fish market along with other shopping businesses so if your a true foodie this place is a gem. A few steps down the way is the subway system just in case you want to adventure far to like Kyoto or Nara park etc. There’s a money exchange machine here in the hotel which is convenient. If you’re looking for an atm there’s a couple convenient stores around the block. As for the room it was nice and cozy. Was able to to have our son (3 years old) on the couch to sleep which is comfortable btw. While us parents sleep on the bed. They have a small fridge for all your drinks, left overs or midnight snacks which came in handy. Favorite part about the room which I think is a Japan standard is the smart toilet with a bidet and heated toilet seats. We’re from USA and we’re used to cold toilets lol. Overall room is perfect if you’re using it to sleep and refreshing up. My favorite part of the hotel is the laundry room. They have vacuum seal for your clothes for when you return you can stuff more things in your bag haha. While you wait they have a coffee machine, books, board games, and peaceful music playing. Would we come back here again, yes! Would we recommend family and friends to stay here, yes!

This hotel was horrific. I am confused and unsure how their ratings are so high because typically hotels that i book scored as fairly well or decent end up being fine. ||Cons: |1. We immediately noticed that the hotels age was evident. The walls of the room were cracked, not even in just the corners or edges, but huge cracks in the middle of the walls, running across end to end, vertically and horizontally. The room and design are in much need of an update unfortunately and remodel.||2. The room was dirty and foul. I’m not sure how to word this nicely, but the bathroom smelt of a mixture of body odor and mold. It was similar to the smell experienced from a load of laundry being forgotten and not being removed from the washer in due time or if the toilets were not clean. The bathroom just smelt terrible. The room itself did not nearly have as much stench as the bathroom did. My husband lost some yen in the couch and he goes to retrieve, and i nearly gagged at what he discovered. Leftover chopsticks, utensils, tons of previous guests hair, crumbs of all sorts. Disgusting. ||3. Our room was unbearably HOT. We understood and had hope initially that the room would cool after given time, as the other hotels we have stayed in while in Japan require time for the room to cool down. But not this one. After three hours, our room temperature remained at 25.5 Celsius; therefore, I inform the front desk and they assured me that maintenance will be coming to our room. After one hour of waiting, i return to reception and politely inform them that nobody has come to assess our air conditioner as of yet. In communication via Google translate staff requests that I “try cracking a window”. I respond “do all residents have their windows cracked and do their rooms remain at 25.5 degrees Celsius?”. They respond “yes, we are sorry.” At this point, I’m internally thinking “what the hell, this place is an absolute dump”. We decided to repack our just unpacked belongings and leave that night inconveniently at 11:00pm, which no guest should ever have to do. However, the sleeping conditions regarding discomfort from heat were simply unbearable. At request of departure, reception staff inquired if they could come check our air conditioner personally, but at this point I declined. I felt the time and effort that was already made on the guests behalf had already passed..and I just wanted out. My comment about the smell of the room via google translate was ignored. |We left and checked into Swissotel next door which i highly recommend if you can afford their prices. After undergoing the experience at Namba Oriental, i did not care of the increase of price, at all. We greatly enjoyed our stay at Swissotel and slept comfortable that night. ||Pros: |1. The saving grace for this hotel is its location. Highly sought and active area. ||2. I do not hold it against Namba Oriental reception staff, because they did seem nice and there was a language barrier. They appeared to remain as respectful as possible during the interactions that occurred. Perhaps they receive similar complaints from guests and are instructed by management to not try to accommodate guests needs or provide...

Pros- Superb Location Near to Namba station, Shinsaibashi, Dotonbori and many restaraunts etc- Provided free welcome Lounge from 2-10pm item includes Free Sake,Beer, Whisky, Soft drinks and snacks like taco chips, pancakeCons-Lobby looks new and renovated but all the rooms are so unfurnished and outdated with multiple defects such as obvious long hairline cracks on the ceiling , sofas with stains , Old LCD TV not smart TV,- The worst of all is the aircon unit as it is told by the receptionist it’s a old hotel so the aircon cannot be controlled as it’s the building aircon hence the ventilation can be hot at times especially in the middle of the night and the feedback from receptionist was to open the window in the room balcony.- The Room Balcony window is connected on the same floor to the next door rooms hence no privacy if windows are open as they can be walk over freely with no restrictions.-2nd the windows at the balcony are faced towards or directly opposite the lift lobby and the occupant from the lifts can see directly into the room if the windows are open and curtains not closed so opening the window for better ventilation is not really the ideal option.- Only one receptionist deserve the praise as she offered to supply a fan if we deem the room is too hot as she explain it’s an old hotel building.- Lastly we stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and return 1 more night after Kyoto trip , the receptionist told us the room was not ready at 330pm upon check in on our last day of the trip and told us to wait for 10mins which seems ridiculous as we are chase out from the rooms before 11am for check in but they did not fulfil their part by allowing us to check in at 3pm instead of close to 4pm the room is then ready for.- Lastly beware of Huge Mosquito in the hotel rooms before we even open the windows there is already a huge mosquito waiting for us in the room upon...
