Hinachan — Restaurant in Sapporo

We visited this restaurant (7-adults) at 4:00pm during the Sapporo Winter Festival. Of our group, 4 of us had visited this restaurant previously and came into Sapporo specifically to see the Winter Fest as well as enjoy they taste of their Hiroshima Okonomiyaki. We knew that the place is a small place with limited seats, but thought at 4:00pm he could (or would) accommodate us. We were really disappointed as the owner/head chef turned us away even though the restaurants only had one customer. Not sure if he turned us away because we were tourists (coming from skiing), or whether he is truly not interested in business. He told us that we would need to make a reservation for our group. Perhaps he was lazy but was definitely kind of rude and just brushed us off, when I said that we could vacate the seats after an hour if he had other customers coming at a specific time. He just waved us away and left us speechless and standing in the doorway.. Don’t think language was an issue as he spoke to us in broken English in the past visits. Some of our group said that he instructed them that they had to spend some minimum or order each main dish and beers (which they did). Understand that it may be his right to be rude or dismissive to customers, but not my taste. Definitely wouldn’t recommend Visitors patronize this place, as he isn’t interested in your business. Prices average based on menu, Large liqueurs menu. Did not have a chance to try the food. Very foreigner unfriendly establishment. Possibly better experience if local.

Us and several other seperate groups of people not with us were made to feel very unwelcome by just entering establishment. Most groups left before being seated, but we tried to tuff it out, but even we ended up leaving because of the hostility. Food might be good, but will not go back, and would warn foriegners about...

A tourist restaurant, staff can speak English. Ordered the udon one, it was really good. Prices were okay. Free flow water. Waited about 1+hr on a weekday (with only 3 people in front of us lol) but at least we had seats in the queue). Honestly the female staff(that took our order) was not happy to serve tourists (she was tsking us but we made our order within 3mins zzzzz) but the two male owners were nice. Will return only for the good food but meh the female staff...
