Had dinner here at the famous Fukuoka based Hakata ramen. Had the spicy noodle with fried rice and gyoza dumplings while my family had the standard ramen. The shop is celebrating its 21st anniversary and is pretty crowded at around 930pm. To be honest, the Singapore Sengkang Grand Ippudo ramen franchise 5 mins from where I live taste much better, but I'm not sure how much of it is because of customisation for the local palette. To be fair the noodles are a bit more springy here even though both are cooked to medium. The fried rice was abit disappointing, though drier and less oily than the Singapore one. It’s 12pm midnight n the hungry boozers, slightly tipsy but with a purpose to have that hot steaming bowl of ramen with its ever tasty broth n El dente noodles slowly but indefinitely are drawn into Ippudo Ramen here at Sapporo Tanukikoji. Weather is fatigued with warm summer heat but one finds comfort in the familiar taste of delicious pork broth n steaming noodles, accompanied by gyoza, rice, potato salad n other side dishes. Read moreWent to this ramen shop, randomly, as a vegetarian and a tourist (who doesn’t know Japanese). And what a lively atmosphere inside. Asked a waiter if we could get a vegetarian ramen and he simply nodded!
We were seated in a typical low seating style fashion and we ordered a vegetarian ramen bowl without any meat but all the vegetables. The ramen bowl was simply fantastic. Even the bean sprouts, pickled ginger, garlic, and other condiments complimented the flavour of the ramen bowl a lot.
