KOKO HOTEL Takamatsu — Hotel in Takamatsu

Found Hotel Wing through a YouTuber’s tour of Japan and comparing it’s cost & amenities with a few other nearby hotels; I kept coming back to Hotel Wing and I’m so happy that I did!||Location: Very convenient to the subway, airport bus, Shopping Districts, Convenience Stores. Glad that I didn’t book close to the Port, this neighborhood felt more local and was a shorter walk to restaurants & shops given the 90°F/32°C and extreme humidity and sun.||Hotel: it is a medium-sized building with I think six floors. Very clean and modern. The small Lobby includes guides, maps, Lists of Udon Restaurants and cute local information (fruit in season), and gifts for sale. There’s 2 vending machines for cup ramen and drinks and a microwave. A laundry room ¥300 soap included, dryers also. Bikes are available for rental, alongside steamers, charging cords, extra pillows, etc.||The communal dining room fits about 20-30 people and has complimentary coffee and juice/tea machines. I never knew that I needed Orange Juice + Calpis or Ginger Ale + Calpis in my life! It is open 24 hours and guests can rest, read or eat in there. There’s a few books and magazines too.||The Breakfast service is 7:00 - 9:00 and is an excellent price $15 USD and experience. Reservations are required. It’s buffet style with rice, soup, vegetables, steamed egg with toppings, a Takamatsu’s famous grilled chicken with different sauces, small sausages, grilled mackarel, Udon noodle bar, Yogurt bar and fresh fruit, Ochazuke (a rice porridge with hot tea) & MANY toppings! The chilled corn soup for dessert was popular! The kitchen staff were very nice and attentive to the food and space.||Room: I booked a single room and not sure if I lucked out, but got a very big room on the 2nd floor. The sink was near the front door, then WC. On the back wall was a frosted double sliding door that opened up into a Bathing Room that was almost the size of the bedroom! |Real bedroom slippers were provided, about 4 hangers and a few hooks on the wall. There was a suitcase rack, otherwise no other space to hang clothes. The desk was a good size with a TV above it. The A/C Unit strong, although it got humid overnight - this may be because of the moisture from bathing. ||The bed was a nice medium-firm and the fluffy comforter and sheets were fresh, felt both soft and thick. Pillows were medium thick and supportive. Appreciate the different areas of lighting and controls at the bed. ||The toilet in the WC had an automatic fan / vent in the seat - which was amazing! The WC never smelled! I didn’t know how to use a Japanese toilet, but I think the bidet wasn’t working.||Now to the Bathroom! It’s all waterproof. The stool was sturdy and mirrored washing area had local Japanese olive oil bath products. It took a bit to figure out how to use the faucets, but the pressure was strong and water hot. I like that the shower could stay attached so you don’t have to hold it all the time. ||The bathtub was very deep and the faucet fills it up very fast! Be careful around the pipes. Also - be mindful that the tun of water will be MUCH hotter than the water coming out of the faucet. Hotel Wing provides a lot of amenities in the Lobby, including robes, slippers, balt salts (pine, lemon, lavendar), hair bands, bath washcloth; alongside toothbrush, combs, and more. A MUST try is the Kracie Cool (menthol) Shampoo - especially after a hot touristic day. The tub fits probably up to 5’5” comfortably but is deep enough for the water to come up to taller guests’ shoulders.||Staff: The staff is kind and diligent. Many speak English well, there’s also a vocal translation tool that they have. Since I couldn’t make calls in Japan, they helped me book 3 different cabs for one day exploration and a reservation for a restaurant on Naoshima Island. I might have been the only guest asking if they knew a store that sold norens (door curtain). The staff look like they’re consistently handling reservations or cleaning areas in the lobby. Even the hand sanitizer foot pedal dispenser! ||Guests were both Japanese and very International: small adult groups from China, solo Americans, European couples, Multi-generational Japanese familes, couples, businessmen. There were not many children.||Highly recommended, I hope...

It was a very pleasant stay. The room is a little small but overall I really liked the service from the front desk, they don't speak much English but they were always happy to help. In particular, I just wanted to say thank you to Ikegami for going out of her way to find out about the PC TA-Q-BIN and the nearest Yamato counter - I didn't visit that Yamato counter but I did send it at one of the other counters at a train station I passed. The free drinks, amenities and the cold fridge is a big plus point.

There are many hidden gems when it comes to food places around the hotel, however you'll have to walk a little further. The hotel's location is average, you have to cross a few roads to get to the Kawaramachi station and take the local train to Takamatsu-chikko then walk about 4 - 5 minutes to switch to the main JR...

이곳에서 다카마쓰 여행 4박 5일을 잘 마쳤습니다. 신축이고 다른 메이저 호텔이 자리잡은 상황이라 리뷰가 많지 않았지만 대부분 좋은 리뷰라 믿고 공홈에서 예약해서 갔어요. 제가 느끼기로, 이 호텔 경영하시는 분이 아마 매우 섬세하고 체계적인 분인듯합니다. 이 호텔은 아래에 해당하시는 분에게 특히 추천합니다.

혼자 여행하시는 분 : 룸은 일본 호텔들이 그렇듯 작은 편입니다만, 욕조가 단독으로 있어서 혼자 매일 입욕제(무료제공) 넣고 여독을 풀 수 있습니다.

한중영 외국인 여행객 : 제가 본 바로는 일본 내국인이 약 70퍼센트였는데, 외국인 관광객에게도 매우 편리해요. 그 이유는 룸 티비가 한중일영 4가지 언어를 지원하고 스마트티비 메뉴로 조정이 가능하기 때문입니다. (미러링도 됨;) 유튜브 한글로 검색되는거 완전 좋구요.

조식 드시는 분(특히 국밥충) : 10퍼센트 세일로 매일 조식을 급식 가격으로 먹은 듯 한데, 저는 국밥충이라 매일 밥하고 국 먹는걸 좋아합니다. 양식 일식 둘다 구성이 있고, 알아서 먹으면 됩니다. 매일 돈지루와 카레가 제공됩니다. 메인 요리 중 생선구이(진짜 맛 미쳤음)와 레몬닭구이는 고정이고 나머지 1개가 좀 변화구입니다.(생선튀김 크로켓 이런게 돌아가면서 나옴) - 지금부터 매우 중요한 사항이 나옵니다.. 이 주위가 오반자이, 이자카야가 대부분이고 일반 식당은 좀 상점가까지 나가야 있어서... 간혹 저녁 식사와 아침 사이 텀이 좀 길어질 때가 있습니다. 그래서 저녁식사를 하고 좀 일찍 자고 여기 조식을 먹고 체력을 회복하는 게 정말 좋은 루틴이었습니다.

물 음료 커피 많이 드시는 분 : 저는 음식보다 마시는걸 더 좋아하는 사람이라... 여기서 무료음료와 커피를 제공해준 덕분에 하루 최소 만원은 벌었습니다...종이컵만 있는데, 일단 편의점에서 물이나 차 하나 사시고 다 먹으면 여기 물 채워서 냉장고에 넣어두세요.(물이 시원하진 않음;)

호텔 객실내에서 뭐 먹는거 안좋아하시는 분 : 냄새랑 쓰레기처리땜에 저는 안 좋아하는데, 조식 식당에 음료자판기와 공간을 밤 11시까지 오픈해놔서 여기서 드시면 됩니다. 방 따로 예약한 그룹들도 가끔 여기서 간식 드시더라구요.

짐을 줄이셔야 하는 분 : 가운데가 단추인 원피스형 가운 잠옷, 클렌징오일, 스킨, 로션, 화장솜, 입욕제 등이 알아서 셀프로 가져갈 수 있도록 1층에 비치되어 있으며, 그외에 카운터에 얘기하면 자전거와 고데기 등도 빌릴 수 있습니다...

에코프렌들리하신 분 : 3일 묵으면 그 다음날 청소를 해줍니다. 솔직히 매일 할 만큼 더럽혀지는 것도 아니고 오히려 매번 방해금지 해놓는 것도 귀찮았는데 저는 이 시스템이 정말 너무 마음에 들었습니다. 사실 정말 하루종일 나가있는 날도 있고 너무 날씨가 덥거나 춥거나 컨디션이 좋지 않아 낮에 방에 있을 때도 있는데 청소때문에 신경쓰인 기억이 있어서요. 참고로 수건은 백에 넣어 11시 이전인가 방밖에 걸어두면 매번 바꿔주시던데요..? 여기 리뷰중 수건을 안준다는 이야기가 있어서;;

조용한 것 좋아하시는 분 : 약간 시끄러운 쪽과 떨어져있어서 몹시 조용합니다. 층간 측간 소음도 느끼지 못했습니다.

3일 이상 장기 투숙객 : 다카마쓰가 상당히 덥고 습해서 빨래할 일이 많이 생깁니다... 1층에 코인세탁실이 있습니다. 사용현황도 티비에 나옵니다. (세탁 300엔 건조 30분 100엔)

(유일한 단점이나 장점으로 승화 가능) 다카마쓰역과 거리가 좀 있어요. 약 1.5km 정도 되어서 그쪽에 볼일이 있다면 체력을 아끼기 위해 버스를 타세요... 저는 3일을 걸어다녔더니 그동네 다 외웠긴합니다. (다리는 부서짐) ☆장점☆ 대부분 에어서울 타셨을텐데... 쥬오코엔 앞에서 공항 리무진 타면 1등으로 타십니다. 조금 더 가서 카와라마치나 다카마쓰역 이런데서 사람들이 우르르 탑니다. 만석되면 다음 버스를 타야하는데 공항 가는 사람에겐...
