Avoid Daiwa Roynet Hotel Takamatsu – Rude Staff, Disorganized Service, and Serious Hygiene Issues
My stay at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Takamatsu was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had in Japan.
Upon check-in, we were greeted by two front desk staff – a male and a masked female staff – both completely expressionless and unwelcoming. When we realized we had been given a smoking room, we returned to the reception to request a non-smoking room. Instead of offering help, both staff members looked visibly annoyed, with unfriendly tones and poor attitude. The female staff rudely took the original room key card from the counter without any explanation. It was an extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable interaction.
We were assigned a non-smoking room for the first night, but the staff informed us that we would have to check out the next morning and move all our luggage to a different non-smoking room, as the first room had already been booked for someone else. No assistance or clear instructions were provided, including important things like where to get basic amenities (e.g., toothbrush/toothpaste) or which elevator to use.
The most unacceptable issue was the hygiene: our bed had what appeared to be bed bugs, and we were itching all night. Even sitting briefly on the lobby sofa resulted in visible bites. The cleanliness level of the hotel is shockingly poor, far below what one would expect in Japan or any standard hotel.
While a different staff member politely called us the next morning to say we could stay in the same room after all, the overall experience was already ruined by the lack of service, disorganization, and serious hygiene concerns.
Summary: Rude front desk staff, chaotic room management, and bed bug issues make this hotel a definite no-go. I strongly advise future travelers to avoid Daiwa Roynet Hotel Takamatsu and choose a more professional, cleaner...
Read moreStayed 6 nights in this business hotel which had rooms much larger than the usual Japanese business hotels. Bed and pillow was comfortable and air-conditioning was strong. Water pressure and cleanliness no issue too.
Hotel is located on the 8th storey within the sheltered arcade mall of takamatsu city, and within this sheltered arcade, you can find most of the facilities you need as a visitor. This helped us through the brutal summer visit as we made use of this sheltered shopping street to get as close as possible to wherever we wanted to go before leaving the comfort of its shade onto the open streets. We did this to get to and from the kenchodori bus stop for the bus from osaka as well as making our way to the ferry terminal too.
Hotel itself was very quiet, staffed by Japanese who are very professional, groomed and well-mannered. On the 9th storey there are 3 laundry machines where you could either use your IC cards, alipay or coins to use them. The most expensive option was 600 yen to wash and dry 3kg of clothing. We used them twice during our stay which really helped keep our clothing fresh for the rest of the trip. That said, we did encounter a malfunctioning machine on the last night, where the machine turns itself off when it reaches the drying mode. After several additional attempts and almost depleting all our coins, we finally gave up and switched to another machine to continue the drying job. So do keep a lookout for such temperamental equipment if you are working on a tight schedule.
Overall, an incredibly convenient and comfortable stay. Most...
Read moreThe location of the hotel was very convenient. The shopping street was just on the ground floor and was covered by a transparent roof. One entrance was connected to this street while another entrance was facing the main road where the traffic was busy. The driver needed to be aware of the small lane beside the fast food restaurant to enter the hotel area and multi-storey carpark. The car might be required to park on a higher level because many local customers used to park their cars here, too. There were bank, animate shop, restaurants, bakery, cafe, and supermarket on the lower floors of the mall. The lobby was not on the ground level, but lift service was provided. The room size was acceptable, and the hygiene condition was good. Staff were polite and helpful. Cash or other payments were handled by the machines next to the front desk. Parking tickets were collected at the desk. Many free daily disposable items such as coffee packs, tea bags, bathing salts, etc. were placed on a shelf nearby, but some of them were already provided in the room. The room rate...
