Let's get this out of the way. You are spending 30 to 40 USD. Yes. It is a great location. That is it. Those are your two selling points - but I can give you better recommendations that are slightly cheaper and right on the subway line as well - this is a last minute, no other viable option is available - because going to a 24-hr onsen would be a better use of your money and you'd leave refreshed/relaxed/and clean.
The front staff is friendly enough, but he makes it VERY clear, he does not speak English. That's fine. He handed me a robe (wish he asked me for a size, this fits my thigh and a washcloth - yes small square 12×12, & a toothbrush).
There is no digital check-in; it is a legit ledger book. Also, fine, just takes longer. Be prepared that it is an extremely late check-in (5pm) and only until midnight - it's also made clear that you won't be able to check in if you miss this. Also fine-enough... the 5pm check in was a little odd, but storage lockers are everywhere, so as long as you don't have large luggage, not an issue.
THERE IS AN ELEVATOR - that I guess is a plus.
Okay, the nitty gritty. My yoga mat has more cushion that the mat inside the capsule. They are dated. But that's not an issue if things are functional. It is dark, close to blackout with the privacy screen closed. These are important details. It is advertised with a TV, and my capsule did have this, I hit my head off of it trying to find a light. There must be a light! Well yes and no. Yes, there were 3 switches, one for the TV, one for a light, one for air. Lovely. Except NONE of them worked. So, I sat in the dark with my phone flashlight. I at least needed to find an outlet and I prayed that that worked- because batteries were drained. You are allotted one outlet, and at least in mine, it was functional. Small wins.
Obviously, this is Japan, we take our shoes off, place them in locker. The front person takes the key from you. You can't leave. You only get that key back at check out... so don't have any emergencies overnight.
No, earplugs are not provided. Slippers are not provided. Getting off at the female only floor (I was specifically told I am only allowed to access the 3rd floor, also fine, but the English was clear on that) you are immediately greeted with the bathroom and three pairs of pink clogs... I have no idea what these are for. There is a sign in the one shower area that says to not wear the bathroom shoes onto the carpet (the carpet being what is in front of the shower). The bathroom as a whole is... a sight. We will leave it at that.
You will hear everything. And by that I don't even mean the peeps around you, I mean if someone is going to the bathroom, showering, or decided to use the hair dryer.
Overall, I would skip. If you are simply in a bind (like I was because a booking went wrong and you had nowhere to go between travels), go to a 24 hour onsen. You...
Read moreListen, I love a good, classic capsule hotel. Economic miracle style; feels like sleeping in the glove compartment of a mid century sedan. It seems like a lot of reviews for this place, and other similar places that I looked at, didn't grasp the concept. Yes, it's small. Yes, you can hear other people sleeping. Yes, the washroom is communal. That's the point, if you don't like it you're just going to have to pay up for an APA. But if you can make the capsule hotel experience work for you, this is a good choice. slaps the hood This baby can sleep so many wasted salarymen, you won't regret it! As I stayed long term (ended up being about two weeks, which I will say was a little much) my major concern when booking was luggage: Since these places are usually just for guests who stay one night, many will make you completely check out each morning and take yr stuff with you. A lot of the other reviews were unclear and it took me a while to figure out the right spot, so I'll say it clearly here - this is a great capsule option for longer term stays and travellers. When you arrive you'll put your shoes in a small locker and then exchange that for your key, which corresponds to your bunk. The key opens your big locker, which is in the basement, but doesn't offer a huge amount of space (maybe enough to hang up a suit but not enough for a suitcase). You need to return the key to get your shoes whenever you leave the building. Checkout is at 10:10. If you are staying subsequent nights, you need to clear out your bunk if you want it cleaned and made up, but if not you are free to leave your stuff in there. If not in your bunk, you can leave your luggage in the hallway on your floor, in the lobby area (they have a 24 hour receptionist supervising), or in the cupboard behind the front desk if it isn't already full. I never had any issues with my stuff, and generally it felt secure. The capsule itself was fine. Comfortable enough, and clean. TV, mirror, privacy curtain. The washroom isn't much like the more extravagant onsens that some other capsules have, it was very austere, but the tub was hot and satisfying nonetheless. Yukata, towel, and toothbrush provided daily, and you can get razors and stuff from the front desk if needed. The space is available from 4PM-10AM, but it's closed during the day for cleaning. Between 10AM to maybe noon the hotel can be awkward to be in because they are obviously turning over all the capsules and you feel like yr in the way. These factors did complicate my daily itinerary sometimes, and it definitely wasn't the most relaxing place to be hungover, but nothing major.Overall, if you are looking for a capsule specifically I would...
Read moreI stayed here for one night and checking in wasn't bad and a smooth process as the older lady in the evening was nice. I knew for the price it may not be great, but I didn't expect the blankets and sheets to be dirty. I wasn't told when cleaning hours were, but I thought I would be able to exchange the blanket and if that was possible. I walked to the counter which was a different older lady and she refused to exchange the blanket and laid into me saying cleaning time is over and they clean the sheets everyday. I tried to show her the stains, but basically blew me off still saying it's not them and had to be me as they clean everyday. I said nevermind as I wasn't going to use the sheets or blanket and just put them to the side in the capsule, but as I walked to the elevator, both her and the man next her laughed and started complaining. I found that extremely unprofessional. The location was decent for the area to access trains to go in Tokyo, but that's all I can say is good. The bathroom area was rundown and couldn't use the onsen in the basement either as it was men only. The blanket had maybe dried blood or mucus stains, some black mark, and a bandaid attached. If this is clean, I hate to see what is dirty. I will never come back again to this capsule hotel. If I could get a refund I would 100% ask for one and tell my past self don't go here it's not worth it. If you stay here check the sheets immediately since it's not worth getting...
