Booked this hotel because it was one of the few available during cherry blossom season, but I expected it to be at least an averagely decent hotel since it belongs to Citadines Group. To my huge disappointment, this is probably one of the worst hotels that I’ve ever stayed in my life. It was an overnight flight in for us hence we reached the hotel at 830am feeling exhausted. Checked in at the reception and expected to be given a room at least between 11-1pm when most guests are checked out and housekeeping are done. I also confirmed with the receptionist that we can come back about 12-1pm to get a room and I wasn’t rejected (maybe due to communication barrier). When I came back to the hotel again at 120PM (after walking around Shinjuku for almost 5 hours), I was told that the check in time is strictly at 2PM. As with some other guests, we all had to wait at the lobby till 2PM. Don’t they have guests who checked out early? And we were told that housekeeping only starts at 10am which beats me, housekeeping takes hours?? In short, receptionists or maybe the hotel was very inflexible and non accommodating which I haven’t experienced in other hotels before. Moving on to the room, got a shock when I entered the room. It is just a rundown hotel room which I did not expect from Citadines. Furniture was old, the worst thing is the bedsheet that’s so rough. Japan was cold and dry when I was there, the sheets made my skin worse when I was sleeping at night. It was so itchy and we didn’t even sleep well for the 5 nights we were there. My partner suspected that they didn’t clean the bedsheets well because both of us felt itchy when we slept on it. But that’s just our suspicion. Coffee machine at the lobby for guests was always out of water and hence as good as no such service. Hotel location was about 8-10mins walk from train station but surrounding it was all drinking places and pubs. Highly do not recommend for single ladies to...
