We booked this hotel primarily for the price and location and we're not disappointed. After taking the Skyliner from Narita, it was just a short (less than 10 min.) walk to the hotel. You can either walk through the Ameyoko market above ground or take exit 3 via the underground. There are numerous shopping and dining options within just a 5 min. walk from the hotel. You also have easy access to other parts of the city with a number of subway lines, the JR Yamanote line and Ueno Station for Shinkansen all within 5 mins. walk. Our party booked 3 rooms (18sq.) and it's bigger than most other typical Japanese business hotel leaving enough room for your luggage. The rooms are well appointed with the usual amenities provided. Beds are comfortable enough. The bathroom is the typical modular type common with most business hotels. One big bonus though is the spectacular view from your room. Regardless of which side your room faces, you're guaranteed an excellent view of the city. Reception is on the 20th floor of the building and the rooms start from the 20th-24th. The elevator is a bit slow but was never crowded during our stay. For convenience, there's a 7-11 store adjacent to the hotel entrance on the ground floor. We were also able to get a good rate because we booked early. I still can't get over the views and I'll...
Read moreReception is located on the 20th floor and guests rooms were on the 21st-24th. Very compact room but my window afforded me a direct view of the skytree tower, offering different mood from morning to evening. Breakfast buffet was adequate, offering more of a Japanese than western cuisine. Free beer and cocktails were being offered during late afternoon at the same breakfast area at the 20th floor. 7-11 at the ground floor of the building was so useful during my stay. Ameyoko shopping district is just a few minutes walk, and about 6 minutes walk from Nakaokachimachi Sta. Exit and Takeya Supermarket (offering delicious discounted bento near closing time). Room is cleaned only every 3 days, change of towels and robes they leave hanging on your door handle, you need to bring out your trash before 9 a.m. but toiletries (dental/vanity set, combs, shavers, shower mitten) are readily available for the taking beside the reception area or at the corridors of each floor beside the elevators . They're strict with the checkin/out time, but they'll gladly keep your luggage if you arrive early so you can start roaming. They granted my request for a very high room, furthest from the elevator. The corridor rug looks nasty, drab, sad looking with lots of stains. It needs...
Read moreAround 3 a.m., we were jolted awake by water dripping onto our bed from the AC unit above. Half of the bed was soaked. When we went to the front desk, the staff member acted like we were inconveniencing him and only came up after some serious pushing. His solution? A few pieces of tape on a leaking AC unit. Shockingly, that didn’t stop the leak.
They told us there were no other rooms available, only to later admit there was one—a smoking room, which we obviously couldn’t take since we had young kids with us. Eventually, the “fix” became stacking stools from the lobby under the unit and layering towels to catch the constant dripping.
The dripping didn’t stop. The towels didn’t help. We didn’t sleep the rest of the night. Every few seconds: drip, drip, splash.
The worst part? Both the hotel and Hotels.com offered only a partial refund—a fraction of what we paid for a ruined night in an uninhabitable room.
This was not a minor inconvenience. It was a health hazard, a sleep-deprived nightmare, and a complete failure of customer service. We expected at least a dry place to sleep. Instead, we got a waterlogged bed, lies, and a pile of soggy towels. Avoid this place...
