Good if you just want to sleep I guess? The location is quite okay, but it's maybe not 2 minutes from Ikebukuro station like the website said (maybe it's a really specific exit I didn't go through, but eh). More like 10 minutes. Oh and it's quite close to a coin laundry too. It has no on site laundry. It's also near 24 hours Seims pharmacy and not one but two 24 hours Don Quijote for your shopping needs. Not to mention other conveniences. So I first heard of Tabist from booking.com when I was searching for hotels in Sapporo and Asahikawa. Then I stumbled upon their website. What could go wrong, I thought. It has many branches so it should be good, right? Right? Oh boy was I wrong. I booked and came without first looking at the reviews on google or other sites. At first, I was like, okay, nice it has a full size bath that's separated from bathroom. The bathroom is really small tho. If you're taller than 165 cm you may have to open the bathroom door when doing your business because your legs won't fit. The room is cramped but okay. The bed is a little musty but okay. I stayed for 3 nights and they said they won't provide cleaning, so if you're not okay with that then don't stay at this place. When I went out in the morning, it finally clicked on me. It's that kind of area, isn't it? You definitely don't want to bring kids here. Well, this being Japan, it's not like it's unsafe, but better keep...
Read moreThis hotel was extremely disappointing—basically the cheapest version of everything you could imagine. There were no amenities provided in the rooms themselves; instead, they’re located in the lobby, where you have to pour them into cups and bring them up to your room. The rooms were very old and not well-maintained. During the last few days of my stay, I noticed used tissues in the corner that clearly hadn’t been cleaned since the first day we arrived.
There’s no scenario in which I’d recommend staying here. It’s possible I had one of the cheapest rooms, which might explain some of the issues, but we also got a glimpse into other rooms being cleaned and they didn’t look much better. Even worse, when you pay for a more expensive room, the price ends up being comparable to much better hotels in the area—so you’re better off staying literally anywhere else.
The only redeeming quality is the location, which earns an extra star, but even that isn’t significantly better than other nearby options. Please take a look at the photos—this was by far the worst experience I’ve...
Read morePictures are misleading to actual room, list of amenities given to us that were supposed to be available in the room aren’t here - sockets broken on the walls, wallpaper stained and peeling, toilet won’t flush because it’s broken. From the basement room, you can hear a loud rumbling sound every time someone takes a shower upstairs. T.V screen was damaged in the room before we got here. Room had a strange smell. Free WIFI advertised at front desk wasn’t available downstairs in our room. Outdated and musty. It’s cheap, and close to the station, but ultimately not worth it. Very...
