I went with a friend. I ordered the tonkotsu shoyu abura soba and my friend the spicy one.
First of all, the noodles are not "inedible" but let me try to justify my score below:
The price is quite high for what they offer. 780yen for the plate + 100 for more noodles. But the amount of noodles was pretty normal and there were no toppings in my plate apart from spring onions. For that price i would expect some chaashuu or soft boiled egg at least like any other abura soba place For my friend the spicy version was 100 yen more but it can with raw spring onions, onion, cheese (the one you get on supermarkets) and a bunch of spicy sauce that was just very spicy (not the flavorful one). It also had mayo but still... didnt justify the price we believe... The place is supposed to be an Abura (Oil) Soba but more than having the "tare" as your normal oily flavorful sauce, they serve it with a more liquid sauce that mostly looks like leftover soup. So the expectations of eating abura soba are already broken from the start The serving time was also quite slow considering for the end result (and it was not crowded neither)
The place is highly promoted on social media (youtube, insta) and it seems they have a focus on foreigners which is not a bad thing, but maybe they need to focus on the basics first before attempting to "change" the abura soba industry
Again, is not "inedible" but yeah... very low quality compared to other places (i would give it a 1.5 if there was an option but sadly im more tempted towards a 1...
Read moreBefore I ate here on Wednesday, I asked the staff member working that afternoon if the food had peanuts, since I am dangerously allergic to them. They were very kind and helpful with letting me know which menu items were safe for me to eat. I am very thankful for that.
Unfortunately, the eccentric owner wasn't there that afternoon, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the restaurant. For the price and the food that I got, it was a very filling meal and easy to recommend to others.
The noodles were nice and thick. The taste of the food after blending everything together was nice and spicy. The mayonnaise and cheese helped to cut down on spice a bit, though I wouldn't mind if it was more spicy. Mixing the rice from the cooker with the leftover soup made for a nice ending for the meal.
If you're ever in the area, this restaurant is worth checking out, even if the owner...
Read moreThe spicy Abura soba was delicious. The owner is so friendly and comes over to assist you at the ticket machine and even recommends the most popular dish! He also is attentive and asks you questions out of curiosity or kindness. The abura soba was flavorful and delicious, covered in cheese, the spicy sauce, garlic, Japanese mayo and more yummy toppings! I love that they have a tub of garlic on the side as well as a bottle of Japanese mayo and extra cheese!! You can add as much as you want to your hearts content. They also offer fresh hot “serve yourself as much as you want” rice to finish the meal and soak up all the delicious sauce at the end. I was sooo full and satisfied !! I wish I could just have a bowl of all the toppings and sauce over rice. The Abura “risotto” was...
