I stayed at Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya for 4 nights in May of 2024. Overall, this is a decent hotel. The check in staff "Sato" was nice and switched to English when he realized I'm shy to attempt speaking in Japanese.
This hotel is located near Ichigaya station, which is conveniently located ~halfway between Tokyo Station and Shinjuku Station. In the mornings and evenings, there are lots of salarymen parading up and down the street going to work. There is a McDonald's and FamilyMart around the corner for your simple meal requirements.
The view from my room was quite lovely and I could see trains across the river going back and forth until late in the night.
The overall room was a little outdated. I noticed standard "wear and tear" scuffs and stains, but these don't bother me much.
I would stay at this hotel again, but perhaps I would research and consider other hotels...
Read moreWhy should you stay at this hotel as a tourist? First of all, location. Only 5 minutes walk from Ichigaya JR & Metro station, across the bridge. So centralise that if you take the trains towards any direction at rush hour in the morning, you get empty cars, as the crowds are coming against you. Equally, as you return in the evening, the crowds are going the other way. |It's a great hotel, super convenient, comfortable, nice and clean. But it is not prepared to service foreign visitors. Hardly anyone has minimum control of English. They will usually leave the call, or the desk, or pretend they cannot help, but once you use the term HELP, they will make everything possible to help, no matter how confused they are. I'd be happy to return and stay strategically here. |Why not? The only reason to stay elsewhere is if you have a much...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel, near the JR Ichigaya Station, because I was working nearby. Otherwise, it's absolutely not my kind of place. Anonymous, unwelcoming.||From the outside, it looks like a Communist-era secret service HQ.||The lobby is big.||The reception staff are slow, not to say dozy, and poorly trained. I asked a young female receptionist a simple question - she disappeared into a back room and never came back. I was left there, stranded. Hey, this is supposed to be Tokyo, a zappy, cosmopolitan city, right?||The room was a dull, business-hotel-style room. Everything was there, but it was soulless, and I couldn't open the window - locked!||Down the corridor was a vending machine with cold drinks.||I paid over 11000 yen for the privilege of staying one night, room ONLY. (Breakfast is an...
