I’m always on the lookout for a good sandwich in Japan so I came by and tried 2 sandwiches. I was a bit excited because the style leaned more toward a trendy American deli rather than Japan and I miss those flavors.

Blue Monday was a 3.5/5 for me. I was excited it had 2 of my favorite ingredients: caramelized onions and bleu cheese. Yet I could barely taste either of them. Apple Cheeks was much better at 4.5/5 but it didn’t leave me dying to come back for it again any time soon.

The coleslaw reminded me of the documentary about bringing KFC to Japan and the first thing they did was take out most of the sugar from the original recipe. I know there’s no rules to a good slaw but I found it to be just a little too bland for my tastes. I could only taste a little pepper and that’s about it.

If you walk by and it seems too busy don’t worry because there’s more seating on an adjacent second floor. I’d recommend it if you’re nearby and want a decent sandwich. For me, if I have all the ingredients in my pantry on a day I want a sandwich, I’d rather just...

We really liked the vibe here—once you get close to the shop, you’re welcomed by the irresistible smell of grilled cheese sandwiches.

That said, the food and drinks were just okay and a bit on the pricey side. Nothing too bad, but the staff member who took our order wasn’t very friendly, so the first impression could’ve been better.
