My recent stay at this hotel was incredibly disappointing, especially in terms of their treatment of disabled guests. We booked on Airbnb, which clearly says service dog is not pet. As someone who relies on a service dog to survive, I was shocked when the hotel demanded that I certify my dog as a service dog in Japan. I brought my service dog all the way from the US without any issues from the airline or the Japanese quarantine office, yet this hotel insisted on additional certification.
Their requirements were not only unreasonable but also practically impossible for a tourist. According to them, I would need to visit a hospital to re-certify my disability, then go to a vet to certify my dog, and finally have my doctor confirm that my dog is indeed a service dog for me. All of this while I’m only staying in Japan for a week!
This bureaucratic nightmare is absurd and shows a complete lack of understanding and respect for disabled individuals. How could they expect anyone to have the time or resources to comply with such demands? Moreover, who would cover these additional expenses?
I strongly advise anyone traveling with a service dog to avoid this hotel. Their policies are not only impractical but also discriminatory. This experience has made my trip unnecessarily stressful and...
Read moreThe hotel gave me a hybrid vibe of Airbnb and a hip boutique hotel from the website, and it sure was exactly that. The Mews payment system got me worried prior to arrival (since mine didn't go thru) but I was able to pay at the desk with the same CC, no problem. Staff is always there between the promised hours and everyone is super friendly and helpful with everything. Everything super smooth, super clean and dare I say, perfection.
This location is a bit of a walk from the main Ginza attraction and maybe better for the cooler months compared to the (hawt & humid) summer season. Plenty subway stations nearby and slightly on the residential / business side of Ginza (if that seems possible to imagine).
Can't wait to check out other locations of Section L and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an apartment feels of a hotel. Thanks to everyone at the desk...
Read moreHave stayed at Section L Ginza East a few times now and absolutely love it. My new go-to hotel/apartment in Tokyo. Staff is great, very helpful. Rooms are small (like all Japanese rooms), but they have EVERYTHING you need. All kitchen appliances and dishes/silverware/chopsticks/cooking utensils are there, all linens, cleaning supplies, etc. I've never stayed at an aparthotel that supplied more useful things in the room. The place is immaculately clean. It's a short walk (3-10 minutes) from several Metro train lines.
One thing to note is that the washer/dryer system is the type where you have a washer and then you need to hang the clothes in your drying room with the dryer turned on. It's not a combo washer/dryer appliance. This was no problem for me, but it might be a surprise to travelers who have never used a drying...
