I loved this enzyme bath experience and I will definitely come back any time I am in Tokyo. It is exceptional and did wonders for my skin, as well as leaving me feeling very relaxed.
The spa is on the 5th floor and it is not a fancy looking place, but don't let that deter you because it is clean and has everything you need! The staff is excellent, and the most important part is the enzyme bath, which is a very special and unusual experience. If you are looking for a high end "luxury" experience, this might not be for you, but if you are looking for something unique that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated without all the bells and whistles of a bougie spa then you will love this.
I had no idea what to expect from an enzyme bath, but pretty much you are buried (with your face sticking out) in what seems like hot dirt. It is more elaborate than that, because the material is actually cedar wood and rice bran that is heated naturally by the bioactive enzymes they mix in.
While you are buried, they put a customized organic face mask on you. It is rice based with bran and flour, plus an additional ingredient to suit your skincare needs/goals. For my skin, which is sensitive combination skin, rose antioxidant was chosen. When you shower after emerging from the dirt, you scrub the mask into your skin as you rinse and the exfoliating effect is AMAZING! Gentle enough for my sensitive skin yet left my face so bright and glowy. After over a week of traveling Japan, not staying adequately hydrated, and being jetlagged, my skin needed some TLC.
If you find being submerged in the bath too hot, you can adjust your position so parts of you get some air, but I stayed buried the whole time. It was hot but in a good way, like a strong sauna. Even after a shower, I continued sweating for quite a while, so this activity would be especially nice in the winter. If it's a warm time of year, take a cool shower after!
I really enjoyed the additional experiences after the enzyme bath and mask. You lie on a heated mat with warm vapor blown at your face to open your pores for the lymphatic facial massage and moisture sheet mask. I loved the feeling of whatever serums they used for the massage process. Once the sheet mask is on, they also put on an electrostimulation mask that contracts your facial muscles repeatedly for 15min giving a lifting effect in combination with the de-puffing of the lymphatic masage. The electromask felt really interesting and I quite enjoyed it, but I can imagine it might be intense for some. In that case you can use it at the lowest setting (I had it almost at the maximum!).
You will also receive a scalp massage, something I had never had before. This part was also enjoyable, but my favorite parts were the enzyme bath and the facial stuff.
My only complaint is that I would love to have a second shower after everything is completed, simply to fully freshen up before going back out into the world. There is a shower after the enzyme bath and then after your appointment is over there is a powder room where you can get ready and try some skin serums, use a blow dryer for your hair, etc. The limitation in space means there isn't a large locker room with showers where you can get ready afterwards, but with the space they have they accomplish a lot and provide an truly special experience. This spa is lovely and offers exceptional treatments, so maybe some day they can move to a bigger space with some more amenities, but until then I will still continue to visit and support them anytime I'm in town! I look forward to...
Read moreI recently experienced an enzyme bath, and it was unlike anything I’ve tried before. The concept is simple but fascinating—you’re buried in a warm, fermenting mixture of finely ground wood shavings, rice bran, and natural enzymes that generate heat through fermentation. No external heat source is used; it’s all-natural.
As soon as I stepped into the treatment room, the earthy aroma of the enzyme mixture was noticeable but not overpowering. Lying down and being gently covered with the warm, granular material felt oddly comforting—like a weighted blanket but with a slight tingling warmth spreading over my body. The heat is intense but not suffocating, and I started sweating within minutes. It’s a deep, detoxifying kind of sweat, different from a sauna or steam room.
The staff monitored me to ensure I was comfortable, and after about 15-20 minutes, I was helped out and given time to cool down. My skin felt incredibly soft afterward, and I noticed an overall feeling of lightness and relaxation. Some people claim it boosts circulation, helps with muscle recovery, and even improves digestion. I can’t say whether it had long-term benefits, but I did feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and very relaxed.
If you enjoy alternative wellness treatments and aren’t afraid to try something a little different, I’d highly recommend an enzyme bath. It’s a unique experience that leaves you feeling cleansed from...
Read moreWonderful and unique experience! Easy to book via WhatsApp. I was warmly greeted with a glass of water and ask to choose my experience (should have added an oil massage). Then was shown to a changing area and provides a set of paper underwear and towels. From there I was given an enzyme drink and asked to remove my makeup. Next on to the highlight- the enzyme bath - a small room with a big wooden tub filled with fermenting rice bran and cypress. The texture is like fine grain sand but soft. You enter the bath via some steps, lay down and then are gently covered. I opted for the course with mask and head massage. After 20 or so minutes you emerge and get to shower (shampoo and conditioner provided). Then off to another room for face mask with EMS & Ion induction and oxygen treatment. When you are done there is a small power room with hair dryer, face moisturizer and sunscreen. And before you pay a pomegranate drink. Masy was kind, patient and helpful explaining each step of the course. The owner is also very friendly and passionate about the health benefits of the enzyme bath. Both ladies speak English very well making it easy for foreigners. Highly recommend...
