Was recommended by my sis about this hotel as I have a larger group size that generic hotels will be more costly, so many positives to say about Mimaru esp this branch at Ginza East. Firstly the location is great, nestled off the bustling Ginza area (a 10 mins walk) allowing us to rest without the loud traffic yet accessible to four 24-hr convenience stores (7-11 and Lawson’s) either direction of the hotel. It is also very well connected with three train stations Hatchobori, Takaracho and Shintomicho, serving the Hibiya line, JR Keio line, Asakusa line, and the Yurakucho line. And it’s a 14mins walk to Tsukiji market. The hotel also has a map showing you the eateries within a 5/10/15mins radius. There is even a fruit stall directly outside the hotel selling great tasting pears, strawberries and kiwis among others.
Next is the fantastic service provided by the staff. We experienced excellent service from all staff and in particular Mark and Karen who offered so much assistance for my daughter who was down with sickness. They scoured thru quite a few clinics that will be suitable for my daughter’s condition and to ensure it’s within close proximity. Such care and attention to details is truly appreciated when you are not from the area.
The selection of amenities are not the usual hotel types but you can rent for free hair tongs, ironing boards, speakers, games, cooking utensils (steamboat, toasters, etc), and many other stuff regular hotels wouldn’t have. You can even ask for daily free PJs and slippers for your own use. There is a coin operated washing and drying service on the ground floor.
The room size is great (my travel size of 5) and have up to 6 beds, a kitchenette, dining table for 6, 2 clothes hanging areas, a bathtub with 2 sink and a toilet (placed separately). We could prep our breakfast daily without fuss and even had dinner once in the room. The kitchenette comes equipped with a sizeable fridge, sink, electric hob and oven. They do house keeping daily for replenishment of towels and empty bins, and deep cleaning on the 4th and 7th day on repeat.
I would highly recommend this place for travellers with big groups and would most likely be staying in this hotel when we visit...
Read moreI have stayed at other Mimaru properties in Japan and overall its positive, family friendly, and has extra space and amenities since it is a service apartment; it comes with a kitchen, fridge and small dining area. I gave my experience at Mimaru Tokyo Ginza East 3 STARS based on my overall experience. The front desk I would give them 5 stars, they are friendly, accommodating and very helpful. Housekeeping I would score it with 1 star; I stayed at the property for 7 days and had housekeeping 3 different times. They did not make our bed, change our sheets and properly replenished our supplies. The only thing housekeeping did on those 3 days was take out the trash and refill towels. I believe the hotel policy says they do a full service on your 4th day which includes vacuuming and changing bed sheets and it wasn't properly serviced. Also, housekeeping gave us towels that were dirty with stains and they never replenished shampoo and body wash. I had to go to the front desk to request for additional supplies and ask them to replenish shampoo and body wash by bringing the empty bottles downstairs. Checkout was also painful. I was checking out at 5:30 AM to catch an early flight and there is no front desk staff during this time. There is a sign to ring the bell or call their local number. I rang the bell 10x and no one answered, after that I asked my Uber driver to help me call the number posted. After 15 rings someone picked up the phone, and 10 seconds later an old man came out from the back. He was very grumpy and it was obvious he was sleeping on the job, and he started mumbling in Japanese and complaining to ring the bell, I told him I rang it 10x and because he didn't come out I had to get someone to call the hotel. I believe management needs to revisit certain areas and retrain their staff properly. As I mentioned, I've stayed at this chain before and experience is overall positive but for this property I would recommend management to re-evaluate their staff and retrain them accordingly to improve...
Read moreMimaru Tokyo Ginza East is a place to go for kids! It is a very kid friendly hotel with different challenges and summer events such as a kendama challenge that allows your polaroid picture to be shown off to everyone! The staff were all very friendly, our favorites were Ghulia and Risa. We would always be greeted with a smile every time we entered the doors of Mimaru. Everytime you head back for the day, the front desk will always greet you with a good night after your evening dinner. The staff could sometimes help you with reservations if you don't know their language. But just note that Japanese restaurants are very strict and most restaurants do have a cancellation fee/policy.
Additionally, housekeeping service is done every day with cleaning A & B. There are days where they only vacuum and clear out the trash (cleaning A). Every two days, they will help make and change your bed sheets (cleaning B). Half of your stay at Mimaru, they will help you do a major cleaning (cleaning C).
Another convenient and useful tool that most hotels don't have are the washers and dryers. For just 400 yen (each time), you could wash your clothes on the 1st floor. And for just 100 yen (each time), you could dry your clothes, however most of the time it might require more time to fully dry.
The location is very convenient as there is a Lawson and 7-Eleven which is a 3 minute walk from both directions. There is a fruit store across the street named Produce with exclusive Japanese fruits all you can name! There are many bakeries and restaurants nearby.
We stayed for 14 nights/15 days and we felt that every moment of our time here at Mimaru Tokyo Ginza East was very pleasant and welcoming. We would absolutely recommend this apartment hotel to other families and guests who might be interested. We will definitely come here again soon!...
